I have no idea if the universe was created by an entity that we would call God, or it was just formed somehow on it's own. That being said, my view of all the world's various formal religeons is this: (parts reprinted from a diferent thread)
My view of all formal religeon is that they are "bed-time storys", made up by early man, who was scared of the dark, storms & ulitmatley death & wanted to allay his fears with "Happy Ending" stories.....Period. As we gain knowledge of our universe, we can now explain many things that we just feared b4 & therefore dont need the religeous "stories" to allay our fears as much. However, as long as we ultimately cannot understand death, we will drag our "cuddley baby blanket" of religeon around with us to ease our minds.
Over my desk I have a picture of the earth taken by the Apollo 8 astranauts from the moon....,. We all share a tiny, fragile little blue marble floating in the vastness of space, & yet we have spent thosands of years fearing eachother & killing eachother, based on one of these "Bed-Time" stories. I think it is the height of arrogance to believe that, if there exists a supreme being, that he/she/it would have nothing better to do than to watch over & control this little blue, insignificant spec called Earth.
Personaly, I view death as being exactly what it was like before I was born..........Nothing (no sense of time, no Heaven or Hell....just nothing)
All opinion/beliefs are welcome
Edit: If you haven't really looked & wondered at the picture below, I suggest you take a minute, enlarge it & really look at it for a few moments. I think all world leaders should be required to have that photo hanging in their office to contemplate b4 making any major decision. Everything in our history, everyone that has ever lived, everyone you love, hate, fear or remember was or is on that fragile little blue spec. That's my religeon!
