Hi all,

I joined the forum in hopes of getting some advice. The stove pictured has been bouncing around my family for years. I'm going to be moving and don't necessarily want to bring it with me. If it is a candidate for reconditioning, I would be happy to find it a new home. If I can make a few bucks in that process, even better. If it's just scrap metal at this point, then I'd rather deal with reality. Appreciate any insight.

Tom

She'd clean up nice with a BUNCH of TLC, time, new barrel, etc. What do the innards look like??? It'd have to be the RIGHT person wantin to restore her. If I knew where ya were & you were close enough, I'd give ya $50.00 for her. Don't get more realistic then that my friend.

Yes, that's a very realistic response. I should have mentioned that I'm near the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, a bit far from Freetown. Thank you for taking the time, though.

Hi, not a problem for FF to meet you in Pa :)

Seriously I don't know that kind of stove but the present offer seems OK. Just a bit too far from you.

Sure looks like a B.A.D. to me. 8-)

New barrel equals a new water jacket...that one will clean up just fine. ;)

Here is it's cousin...

Thanks for the additional replies. Yes, my father always referred to it as a Bucket-a-Day because he said it burned a bucket of coal a day. It does have hookups for water (see picture), but I have no idea if it is still water tight. If anything was replaced, it hasn't been for the last 30 years. The thin metal pieces that are shown in the picture are mostly rusted away. Not sure what their function is or how hard they would be to replace.

Id like to see a picture of the insides if possible.

There are a couple people here who use a bucket a day heater, but I would think that if you have any local Amish around they may buy it. Fred probably priced it about right.

Here's a picture of the inside. If this isn't what you mean, let me know.

I'm about 90 minutes from Lancaster, but how do I advertise to the Amish? I'm assuming they aren't on Craigslist :D

Thanks! I was just curious as Ive never seen the inside of one of these. The grates appear ok but its always hard to tell with pictures.

You could either stop at an Amish business and mention you have one, or put an ad in a local paper. Make sure to put either your phone number or address if you make an ad. Possibly a coal dealer could help you too. You could always try craigslist first, or use it somehow yourself.
