Waldo, with all due respect, just go out and get a weber kettle grill. I have used one for 5 years with phenomenal success. And no signs of fatigue as of yet. Mine is the mid size 22 inch & I have smoked 17 lb turkeys, hams & everything in between. With the optional "somkenator" which attaches to the side of the drum; you can remove the cooking grate & put the drip/pan turkey on the coal grate & do an extremely large bird. They also make a 26 inch kettle grill that would even expand your horizons much more. I have also found the "Ivation" wireless barbecue thermometer to be an invaluable asset. For more info, check out these two websites. http://www.barbecuepitboys.com & http://www.amazingribs.com. Hope to meet ya around "the pit" some day. :D

Rick,

That looks perfect , Though it might be too small. what is the diameter and height of one of those? Im looking to determine the max grill area. I need to be able to get four large steaks or chicken halves on at a time. If'n yer up for it and its big enough could I send ya some jack to ship it to me?

Jim, I already did my time with a weber. While they are a fine cookin machine, they don't run on gazz. The keg thing is something Ive wanted to do since high school :oops: Im kinda odd..... good lookin, but odd .....

Pure aluminum melts and 1,218 degrees F, and softens somewhere below that temperature. Some aluminum alloys melt at as low as 865 degrees F.

Waldo, you are letting me down!!! :D Charcoal is the way to go. Grill it, smoke it & kill it the weber does an outstanding job. Comparing a gas grill to a charcoal grill is liken comparing a coal stove to a pellet stove. like comparing Richard Simmons to Mike Tyson!!! Hell ya burned coal all winter, why not all summer?? Oh well ya can lead a horse to water. That photo is a brisket about 7 lbs that took about 8 hrs on the smoker. Ya won't do that on a gas grill.
Cheers
Jim

Jim,

cant help but notice the gazz grill right there at the ready :verycool: I agree with you about charcoal but I got too little time when its time to feed this bunch, not to mention Id always be out of charcoal.... I got my grill hooked up to the house tank so Im never out. Again I agree charcoal tastes better , but a mans gotta know his limitations and I find a new every day :lol:

Well Waldo, I hear ya. However wife & I are both retired so to us the weber is fun!!! The gazz grill provides a quick and easy solution to charcoal, however lacking the true flavor. To us when we have time, the Weber; when time is short the gazz grill. Throughout life there are always compromises. However enjoy life as best ya can, as in many instances life can be way too short.
Cheers;
Jim

I have a 22" Weber and enjoy it very much. 4 large steaks or chicken halves fit fine.

I found an old keg out in the woods one time and wondered if there was pressure on it...pressed on the ball in the valve and got sprayed with the skunkiest beer on earth. The keg is probably still there. :roll:
