Good Morning all,

My EFM S-20 stoker motor popped the thermo switch yesterday. Is she close to the end ?

I hate to waste my spair for no reason. I reset the motor and its working for now.

Dave,

There are two reasons the thermo switch will pop. One is because the motor is going bad, usually bearings. The other reason is that it is over loaded, this is it's main purpose. Over loaded means the blower and gear box have become to difficult for it to turn.

Do you have proper shear pins coupling the clutch to the pot auger?

If the answer is, yes, then I would change the motor. If no, then I would look into why the auger/blower is so difficult to turn.

Hi, turn off power and take your finger and thumb and turn the motor coupler by hand, then use the hand crank a few turns if all turns fairly easy its the motor. Have a good holiday.
