combination of a mild winter, plants trying to grow way out of season, and a dry spring, early summer...rain but not when its really needed. Hay fields grew, but the thickness, is way down. Plants seemed to grow seed head, but not much leaf. Wet areas on farm are workable this year(yes later start), but no standing water or softer soil where it normally is. Last field of my own to hay. Starting this coming saturday after 3 PM I have 9 days to small square bale an additional 70 acres..... Thats why I started haying latest I have in past 4 years..... no yeilds on earlier cuttings.
Tonites mowing... taken at 8:54 Pm tonite.will start baling this saturday. Then hopefully have time to move tractor/mower up road 2 miles and start mowing
....if weather forecast hold for monday/tuesday.
