Here ya go:
Heavy Media Gravity Separation

Heavy media gravity separation involves using a mixture of fine media material, such as magnetite (SG 5.1) or ferrosilicon (SG 6.8), suspended in a slurry of water, to produce a media slurry with a specific gravity that will allow low density material(s) to float, and other high density material(s) to sink.

If you are asking about the strip mining he said they were only going down about 300’. He said they can’t go below the water table which is somewhere below 300’ I thought he mentioned 380’ but I could be wrong. I’m working from memory.

I think he said they were going down 800 ft and the water table was at 1200 ft. But they did not plan to go to 1200 for some reason not stated. Logistics I guess. They can't go below the water table by EPA? rules.

My wife and I are all in for any of the awesome sounding destinations listed above. It was a great weekend and I would plan better next time and leave on a Friday morning not afternoon.

In 2008, our second (my first) m&g (Fall 2008 Meet and Greet (AKA Coal Nerd Fest)) included your choice to tour of Yuengling's brewery in Pottsville or a tour of the Keystoker manufacturing facility. After lunch we toured the Pioneer mine. It was a cold and dreary day with some lingering effects of coal berner's Bday celebration :P . The long distance member was bsaun who flew his plane in from KY.

M&Gs are always a great time.
