Truly awesome day with many of the coal crew. I will put up some pics later if they're are worthy. Fred is truly as big in real life and what pleasure to meet him. The mine tours were icing on the cake. We will check out the town of Jim Thorpe before the long haul back tomorrow. Thank you everyone.

My wife and I had a great time today. It is always good to meet new members and those from past gatherings. The tours were fantastic and educational. Thanks to Jack for getting this set up as well as sharing his knowledge with us. I think KLook gets the award for dedication for coming all the way from Tennessee, my wife enjoyed Mrs KLook’s company. We also had Ohio, New York, and New Jersey representing. Then there were a few of us semi local yokels.
Once again, great day and safe travels to all those long distance attendees.

Sorry I couldn't make it. I had to be down in Pheonixville and did not get back until much later than I thought. I hope everyone had a great time.

Highlights from the mine tour; don’t stand too close to the tour guide, a canary ain’t worth a *censored* in a coal mine, be friendly to the rats.
In the stripping pit it was fascinating to see where the strip mined through an old underground mine. The petrified trees were neat also.

All jokes aside, I wish I had known the day included a strip mine tour. My dad has no interest going in a deep mine, but he would have been thrilled to see some of the large equipment at the mining site. Guess I will have to keep buying TT loads of Lehigh and hope they let me in when I finally make it down there.

FYI in the third picture Keepaeyeonit posted those are petrified stumps. On two or three of them you could see the bark, actually pretty amazing.
