For those that weren't there this is pretty cool from picture Mcgeiver posted.
The seam of coal runs along that rock face, it's not flat but at an angle and I believe it was about 20 foot thick. The hole is from an old underground mine. If you look you can see a line extending to the left from the hole. That line was where they laid track in the underground mine on top of the seam mining out the coal above it but only perhaps a 10 foot high tunnel. There was one section you actually see the square cutouts for the ties along the line
That line extends to the left up to where they were backfiling. You can see 2 lines in this picture, one in the upper right corner and the other one is obvious. They would have multiple tunnels all up and down that rock face.

No coal Bill. Just an outstanding day w/ focus on COAL, not playgrounds or brewsky places. Just coal history. Had to make this one. Jack done REAL good.
