This was in the basement of recently purchased house. I have never seen anything like it. I do not know much about it but, one thing I do know is that it is really heavy. It is solid thick ceramic. Any insight would be appreciated. And I am looking to sell it if I can get it out of the basement.

This is all a search turned up. East German make, and no longer being made.

The info in one of the pictures at the link above says it's primarily a wood stove, but can burn "brown" (soft) coal, lignite, and coal bricks. That leads me to believe it's not set up for under fire, primary air that is needed to burn anthracite.

As per friends from Baden Baden, Germany, tiled stoves are rather common in Germany. Some are very large and ornate, extending from floor to ceiling.

Looks like the company is still around. http://www.weso.de/en/contact.html

If you type 'weso' into the search box at the top right, there are 17 pages that come up.

That looks like one of the later models that should burn anthracite OK.

Early models had trouble with it.
