Tired of changing the quartz halogen bulb every year. Need an exstension ladder, and climbing up, jugggle fuss, and put all chit away. So got this light coming. Will see how it works. been changing all indoor lights to LED...., now I need to figure how to convert flourescent box lights in kitchen to led strips in same box panels...Hmmmmmm?!?

Depending on what you have for an existing light fixture, eliminating the ballast and using line-voltage LED tubes might be the way to go. About 5 years ago I converted my kitchen lights to electronic ballasts and T8 bulbs. At the time it was about $32 for the ballast and 4 bulbs, which was much less than any LED option...but times have changed.

I replaced a 2, 4' fluorescent bulb kitchen fixture with a 12" round LED, the thing lit the place up brighter, will last at least 20 years and cost $19. Seemed like a win to me. What amazed me was getting that much light from a dozen chips the size of a match head.

This thread convinced me to order some of the LED T8 tube lights. Today I converted one of my old shop lights with T12 bulbs and a magnetic ballast to the direct wire LED's. If I allowed myself any $ for my time it probably would have been cheaper to buy a new fixture...but I took my time with the wiring, repainted the reflector, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I will convert the rest as I have time or when something fails.

I got them from Amazon...one tube has already quit working. Tomorrow I will verify that there is power to the tube, and start the return process (assuming it isn't an error on my part).
