I woke up this morning closing windows in the house. I looked at the thermometer and it's 57!!! August 9 and it's 57...that's not right. The last two years we lit off on September 19 as Momma is temperature sensitive. When she comes downstairs in her flannel PJ's, thick robe, and wearing ear muffs, its' time.
If you haven't got your coal yet I do recommend you get it in or ordered. Lite off time is only 6 weekends away for me. The stove is ready and the shoulder months "free" wood is layed in. Have to spend an afternoon running piping for our bucket a day water heater to gravity feed two radiators I'm installing and we will be set. I can't run the BAD on wood as it's too small and I can only fit a couple of pieces of small stuff in it. I use wood to get it going so I can get it on nut coal and then I damp it down at night on buck so it'll last the night.
The little bucket a day is T'd into the hot water heating boiler so I can fire the BAD and heat the house. I can split it to go through a plate heat exchanger to heat our DHW, heat the house, or do both by opening or closing a couple of valves. Neat little guy.

49 here, but it warmed up quickly after sunrise. House was still warm from yesterday so no need for the stove yet.....as much as I'd rather not be using the pro-pain stove to cook on.
However, if this coming winter is like the past ones, in about another month and we'll be needing the stove going.
Still have a few tons of coal left in the bin from last year. And my coal order has been in for a month. Just waiting until my dealer gets another coal user near here to put in his order which splits a full truck load between the two of us.

Yep, we had 55 last night and I saw 51 the night before. I love the cool at night! It makes loading the bread truck so much more tolerable.
Just a few days ago I had 4 tons added to my left overs which brings me up around 5.75 tons total in the bin. My light up time is anywhere between Oct 15th and Halloween normally, but we'll see how it goes!
