RATS,

uninformed, simply clueless people with stoves they don't comprehend are SSSooooooooo frustrating.

i even talked to a guy that cited info and links from our forum as justification for the reason HIS stove is the exception to common sense in value.

so far I've eliminated 3 of the stoves I had leads on. as a result I've gotten ahold of the guy with the climate controlled barn full of stoves and asked him to give me a list of what he has in the base burner double heater catagory.

i also found an old thread here that disqualified another stove I had located and was interested in. the mighty GW #113.

3 Glenwoods and a Crawford Who Can Ask for More

3 Glenwoods and a Crawford Who Can Ask for More

according to these numbers "Trioculus Maximus" is a match, at 35 Sq. of radiant surface plus double heater and a fire pot 16" W inside the bricks and current depth of 14" ( max 19" )

I've also received a very gracious invitation for a visit and stove tour from one of our own during the upcoming meet and greet, so I could still come up with one of them "purdy" stoves :D

Frustrating is putting it politely !!!!!

It really is amazing how far off the reality mark some folks can get with prices and info on stoves they are selling. Some, broken, with missing pieces, but they see the same stove, fully restored on an overly expensive stove restoration website and they think that justifies their unrealistically high asking price.

Or, I have to laugh when they say, other stoves just like this one, when restored, go for X amount. :D

Example, There's a Glenwood oak that keeps turning up on the western Mass Craig's list. Asking price is $7500.00. For that much money, you can buy three of them, professionally restored from the not -expensive restoration shops. :D

Hang in there, Steve. Your stove is out there just waiting for you to find it. ;)

things are getting interesting, had a great talk with on of our PA. brothers last night about all things "stove" AND this morning got an email from the " barn full of stoves" guy explaining the crush of activity and regret for delay getting back to me.

there are stoves !! and both of the people i'm talking with now are DEEP into stoves, resto work and are "earthlings" in their estimation of values. :)
