my wife was using this phone and it got corupted somehow and was acting up so she took it to the provider she had gotten it from. of course, they made it worse and in the end it was simply scrolling the "loading wheel" non stop and going no further.

at that point she was recommended to a couple middle eastern guys who were said to be able to fix anything. they said, 'sure we can fix it, come back tomorrow" well tomorrow they said "no, we can't fix it but we know some guys in Iraq who can. we can send it to them for you,it will be back in ten days "

at that point my wife said, no thanks, and it's been sitting ever since.

so.......we got any super savvy phone hackers on board ?

thanks,
steve

I don't have a cell phone, smart phone etc.

Sucks yours is acting up. There must be way to reset to factory settings, yes?

I searched google and found that searching: samsung galaxy note 2 reset to factory
Popped up a procedure.

I would assume all data would be lost via a factory reset process.

thanks David,

i think I will try that again. it was one of the things done along the way that formerly made things worse. I was hoping that since we have every one from rocket scientists to me here that there might be some young guy who really knows this stuff.

there is nothing to loose at this point. otherwise i'll be posting a vid of it being kidnapped, tied up, thrown on the train tracks and waiting..............................

nope same old thing.

it won't power up at all until you do the volume, home, power button combo. then, it lights the screen and ID's it's self as a note 2. then, starts the pinwheel, goes to the dots and says rethink possible then shows the samsung logo and nowhere in the process will it show a home or menu screen of any kind.

it just waits awhile then re does the pinwheel, rethink possible thing every min. until the battery dies. at now point will it power back down until you remove the battery.

seems to me the hardware works to some degree. .i asked about running it on different cards and was told they did that but I didn't see it done so can't confirm.

somewhere i'll find some one that can tell me for certain whether it's " totally dead or just mostly dead "

At this point are you just interested in retreiving stored/unacessable data?
In other words, Do care if phone is usable ever again, a side from getting the unacessable data?

Not implying to have any knowledge of either, but these are 2 different approaches, and with differnt outcomes. :)

naw all the person data is long gone. there's nothing to be had. I just thought maybe I could get it working and have another phone option.

it seems to me the hardware functions till it hits a wall. as far as I can tell that can only be on / in one or both sim cards in it.

i'll mess with it more as time presents itself.

thanks,
steve

Have you tried booting up with sim cards removed?

Did you know the dialing wheel can be lubricated, William Sherrick oils his and it never gives trouble ...
