Federouch landscape and Tarr supply can handle both bulk or bagged. Agway, kanzus feed, millers hardware and meadowlands landscape supply can only handle bags. Personally I can do both, but prefer bags. I don't care either way I just would some Lehigh for more of a variety.

Visit the coal yard of Dettinger's off I-376 at Chippewa. I visit Fred yearly just to BS, but can't buy any coal from him cause he won't handle Pea size...says hardly anyone asks for Pea...meanwhile his competition to the North (Amish) sell several TT loads of Pea each season...oh well.Dieselpowerf350 wrote:oros35 who all have you found selling bulk coal in the area. I only know of one currently
I know for a Fact that Dettinger's pays more for the coal he carrys now than what Lehigh charges, and I told him this too...he is content where he's at now.

Nice! that looks toasty.
Got up to 68 degrees today and I had the stove dampened down , so I opened up the ash door for a few minutes then opened the load door and this is what I had after 18 hour burn. Not too bad. This is the bagged reading coal I picked up. Definitely better than the loose bulk.- oros35

I called around a few places, most couldn't tell me where their coal came from either. Average price was about $265. I don't remember who all I called and what their prices were, once I heard their price I hooked up the trailer and hit the road. I saved $400+ making the trip myself even after deducting travel expenses. And I knew I was going to get good quality coal. It helps that I have the equipment to make the trip too.
McClymonds trucking was one.
Dettingers
Thompson Brothers
Place in Washington Pa
I'm near the PGH airport and called around 6-8 places within an hour drive.
I have several friends that drive truck and could get me a TT load, but don't have a good place to dump it. Plus it's easier to spend a few hundred a year than a few grand all at once.
I am exceptionally pleased with this years load. I'd say it's the best stuff I've ever used. Characteristics of the coal are great and it's clean too. The last load I got from them was nice and clean, but didn't burn quite as nice. It was more of a red ash and this time it's more white ash.

Matt can you tell me the current pricing? I'm probably going to drive out for rice next week. I just got 20 more bags from American Coal for the handfed but the boiler bin is getting low.
Thanks.
Thanks.
