Pole Barns

Our local city codes are no higher 15 feet and no greater than 720 Sq. Ft without a variance. Mine is not a pole barn, but a standard garage.
That put me at 24'x 30' garage with a 4/12 roof! Works for me! Got 3 cars and a workshop in it and some storage down the center in the rafters :)

Thanks, makes me feel better about 3 cars going into 38' X 26'. I still need working space. Pole barns like the one I'm getting use manufactured trusses for the roof, so the storage space is quite limited.

Are you still buying a Conestoga building? How has dealing with them been?

You can specify trusses with an open space in the center for an 'attic' I'd highly recommend doing this.. it may cost a few$ more per truss, but well worth the $$ in the long run.

Yes I am. So far, so good!

Greg-I thought of that, a friend of mine did it that way, but with the upstairs in the old barn I decided to go with regular trusses and save the $$$for the old barn rebuild.

I went with trusses in my detatched garage and wish I didn't. You can't really put any weight on a truss so the roofline up is pretty well out of the storage volume picture.

The difference in price can't be all that much.. a few hundred dollars..??

Can't have too much 'storage' that will be on my tombstone !!

According to the plans, the height of the actual roof won't afford much storage space anyway. I'm waiting for the revised drawings for the smaller barn, then I can get an idea of the height of the trusses at the peak of the roof.

Mine isn't a pole barn either, but it's 26' x 36' with a 6' x 10' workshop on one side & I fit all kinds of lawn equipment & motorcycles on the sides & in the middle, an oil tank, a tire machine, balancer, etc. etc.. etc... Plus 3 full-sized vehicles -- and I mean FULL SIZED! The compact-car of the trio is 17' long!

At one point, I had 4!! My old '94 K1500 & my '72 El Camino fit bumper to bumper with plenty of space to walk around the back. & that is on the side with the workshop...

You'll have plenty of space ;)

I'll try to get some better photos up soon, when I find the Nikon.

After the site was level and before the stone was spread I found a bunch of pieces of buck size coal, I don't think it is from me, but you never know. It's very shiny, either it's from years past or there's a coal vein under there.
