Good morning! Come in, the coffee is hot & there's plenty of it. Pancakes & real maple syrup will be ready soon. Join us for a moment!

Prayers for all those in the path of hurricane Mathew. I have a friend in Jacksonville FL. She & her son went to a shelter. Jusssst as it looked like Jax would be hit hard, the storm went a little more off shore & spared them the worst. They got home late last night. One tree down in the yard, but it missed the house.

Has anyone struck their match for the year? We've had several frosts, but it actually been very warm this week. You could have gone swimming yesterday!

I have to go right now & take Cuz Chris to the airport. a 6Am flight for her to go visit her family in NY.

Hope you all have a smooth weekend!

My goodness you're up early Freddy.

Haven't lit the stove, but I'm slowly working my way through the Chappee boiler install.

My Parents are hunkered down in Charleston, but so far so good.

We still haven't had a frost at my house, and might not for a few more weeks. I think last year we made it almost to Halloween before we got the first frost. I ran my EFM for the last two weeks to use up the old coal in the drum, then shut it down. I need to clean the fines out of the drum, and I bought a piece of ceramic insulation to put on the firedoor. When the boiler runs really hard that door gets HOT and I think it is the biggest contributor to heating my basement up. I got the idea from hotblast, so if it doesn't work I will send him a bill.

I called for a delivery of heating oil next week. I used about 1/2 tank since early May just for domestic hot water. Might as well fill it up while the price is still low. It is supposed to be down in the 30's the next few nights, will get to see how our new heat pump handles it.

As I posted under Matthew, St Augustine FL was one of my favorite down South towns and they got the worst of it. It will take years to recover, if ever --- sad. My friend also had a home on the St Johns river that had a 10-15 ft storm surge and he fears the worst. Corky Bells seafood at Palatka FL --- yum, yum, has gone very quiet now. My MIL home at Delray Beach was supposed to get 90-100mph winds ... and a lounge chair got blown over and that was it. Her broom did not even get damaged.
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,--
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
She mumbled this one and the storm path changed.

Mornin everyone. Great breakfast, Freddy. I agree, prayers for the people in the path of the hurricane. Rain on tap for most of the day here it appears. I'm not complaining because we need it. I had my coal furnace lit for a few days, then it warmed up, then it cooled off, so I relit. I still had a very small fire in it last night, so I threw some more coal on, It feels like it went out.

Take care and be safe all.

Good morning people, food sounds yummy Freddy. 60 and overcast with a light mist here, I don't see a match anytime soon although I still don't have the stove in place yet  maybe in two weeks I will have the time to do it!
Work is starting to show some sign of hope, the crane customers are doing better but oil and gas side of it still sucks and will keep on with oil prices the way they are.
I'm hoping for the best for our Southern friends, I don't want to see to much distraction down there :( .
Have a safe week and enjoy :)

Morning everyone - no breakfast for me. I'm a little under the weather this morning. It being raining and gloomy here isn't helping.

Nope, I've not lite the match. I haven't even connected the stoves to the thimbles yet. That won't happen for another 6 to 8 weeks around here - probably around Thanksgiving. If I connect the stoves I'll just be tempted to go ahead and light the match and that will be a waste of coal.

I finished painting the basement room. Next week I'm going to spend some time on the wood stove I rescued. It doesn't need much and hopefully it will be heating someone's house by Thanksgiving. If anyone has or knows where I can get a Vermont Casting Coal Adapter kit cheap please let me know. I'd like to see this stove burning coal.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care, Lisa

Weather is in official suck-mode as of this morning. Older I get, the more I hate winter ...

Sucked down 1/8th tank of oil overnight. Just rebuilt nearly the entire unit last spring (everything but the motor), and had a neighbor adjust it with this smoke tester and combustion analyzer, so she's running better than ever.

Need to run oil at least until mid November to be sure what coal I have makes it through the season.

Indeed, we are turning the corner toward winter. Nice weather station there Smitty. Do you link it to the internet via Wunderground?

We were camping again this past weekend, no internet. Gave the old girl a workout again. A lot of people ask what's under the hood. Dennis
