Hambden Bob Alert
For any and all of you who may or may not have been wondering, HB has been missing for a week here on NEPA. However... Don't disparage too much. HB and his loyal crew of linemen have been dispatched from the upper river delta of Ohio down to FLA and through the Mid Atlantic region tasked with getting the power back on after the Hurricane.
As of last night HB was wondering when he would be back on NEPA to continue to confuse and confound Yuppies and other Locust like critters with his curative wit. I will of course post more on this subject as I am able to telegraph and teletype with HB. He is though happy to report that while he isn't currently in need of coal heat the Mrs. back in Ohio is perfectly able to handle things.
Oh and I almost forgot.. HB asked me to send "LOVE AND KISSES" to everyone here on NEPA.. (his words.. NOT MINE)

Well, Both Freetown Fred and I am glad he is not among the missing.
Be sure to tell him to have fresh batteries on hand and in
his High Voltage TIC Tester wand and to be sure to use his
glove inflator to check for pinhole leaks every day.
I asked our the local utility lineman who installed the new meter
and service at my place if he used tetracycline to sterilize his splices
when they were assembling cable and he looked at me like I was from outer space.
He also did not know what a glove inflator was
I cannot believe they do not carry them on their bucket trucks.

It's a wonderful thing to consort with a pile of Folks who just 'aint right ! Thanx Gang ! We helped put the smash on Florida, and for our assigned target area in the Carolina's,well,it was still underwater. That ended the Mission. As the waters recede, more Crews will be able to land. We could conceivably have two days at Home, and then be requested to launch right back on Monday. In many parts of the Duke Power Distribution System,it's already been declared as a total rebuild, not a repair nor restoration of their System. They really did get hit that hard.
Thanx for being the Wonderfully Eclectic Coal Burnin' Band of Whack Jobs that Care and keep me going ! I do Love You All !!!

Yep, I was thinking about HB, when I was getting my Mom moved to a safer place in her neighborhood.. She's in PtStLucie, right where the hurricane was forecast to come onshore.. her thursday night forecast was for 11pm winds to rise to 60-70mph, 1am to have 60-90mph, then 1am through 4 am to have 85-105mph winds..
Thankfully the storm 'bounced' off the coast yet again, and headed up north..
My Mom went to a neighbor's, who is a friend from her church, the lady had Mom, two other neighbors, and two of her cousins at her place for two days.. and the last day was without power..
I teased my Mom, saying that I'm sure they were having a great pajama party.. all the ladies are over 80 years old, my mom is 89.
There was little damage, the actual winds were much lower than forecast, and the only issue was it took until Sunday for her to have power again.. She went to stay with friends farther inland who did not lose power.
So HB, glad you are back in Ohio, and if you do go back south.. stay safe, don't drop a pole on your big toe !!
