Pocono power vent size

Pocono power vent size

PostBy: plumb-r On: Wed Oct 12, 2016 6:43 pm

Just picked up a used leisure line Pocono top vent and was going to install it in the basement with a fields power venter( SWG ). Another stove occupies the chimney. What would the proper size of the power venter be? A 4-HD is rated for 170,000btu or 1.10gph oil but this would reduce the vent size to 4" going thru the wall . Is that the correct one to use? Prices go up fast as you go up in size, and don't want to oversize the venter and and have to throttle it way down. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Yes, it's the one I use. 4" is good as it is sucked through that hole. It's not a chimney.

A little word of advice. Powervents require regular maintenance. Make sure you pay attention to that and there are many previous posts on this subject. Conventional wisdom here is build a chimney if you possibly can... Good luck with it.

You wait until you shell out $35+ for a tiny little bottle of:

Powervents need that one regularly - accept no substitutes.

Also if it's a used unit lubricate the shaded pole motors with a little https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016 ... UTF8&psc=1

and then a drop of the above referenced jungle juice.

I am sure you know all this stuff.... I'll bet you are sorry you asked. :)
