Ignore the black cat, push the spiders aside, pass the witch, & step in, if you dare, to share a dip of coffee from the steaming caldron. Ahhh, yes, you'll find it to be the bast ever! Breakfast of bat wings and worms is almost ready.

Brrrrr... yesterday was the coldest, dampest day ever! The temp stayed about 38 all day & the rain never stopped the entire day. The heat pumps are working, but I'm tempted to fire the Axeman Anderson up. It's simply way more comfy when the pipes are warm.

Finally, I finished a job yesterday that's been here for over a month. my semi-retirement policy has been "any job over 2 or 3 days I'm not doing". Well, this pontoon boat was 12 jobs that each took 2 or three days. It was fun, but I'm ready to see it gone. Tis a good payday, but, well....just nice to have it done. I'll get a photo if it stops raining.

I see more & more are striking the match. No need to shiver....light 'er up if you need to!

Good morning. 38 degrees and raining here. First hockey practice of the year at 9:15. Nothing like walking through the rain into a 30 degree rink! brrrrr.

I am still using the heat pump as well. Waiting to see who caves in first, me or Freddy. :)

Morning all, we have a beautiful day in the forecast - somewhere around 70* for the high. I'm going to turn my attention to the coal stoves today. We are still a couple of weeks away from lighting the match but I can get everything ready. I'll pull out the tile saw and get the firebricks cut. That's about all I'm going to do this year.

This afternoon I'll take the "trike" out to the local park and see what the leaves are doing. They haven't been very colorful this year. Don't know why - too much rain, not enough rain, too cool, too hot - I haven't heard anyone explain it. I guess there's too much going on elsewhere that is more important to pay attention to this year.

The bees are still flying and bringing in pollen from something. This week I closed up all but one entrance on the hives and put on the entrance reducers. That will keep mice and other pests out. Once the temperature stays below 50* overnight I'll stick in some bee candy, reduce the cavities of the TBar hives and throw tarps over them as wind breakers and wait for spring.

Enjoy the weekend, Lisa

Good morning folks. It is a chilly frosty morning here in Lower Bucks County. Leaves to rake and the Mark III is running nice and warm with some of last year's pea to keep it toasty in here. A warped grate only costs $140 to replace. Not letting the wife add coal and leaving the ash door open... Priceless!!!

Anyone for some Lumpia, and pancit with your coffee? Come on over and it it's hot.

Good morning all,

It has been awhile since I was on the forum. Have had the coal stoves online for about a month. They take out the dampness and when your doing sheet rock everything dries better. Took out the entire bathroom down to the bones. I just need to finish up some wainscoting and put the bathroom door on. I hope everyone is doing well. I must get to work if I plan to get the bath completed today. The wife would like to be the first to use the new bath, today.

Nice job. Looks great!

Here's a pic or two of the pontoon boat that I just upholstered the seats. The steering console was a real pain!

Freddy,
You do some really nice work. The owner of that boat should be proud to show it off since you made it look great. Do not retire, the world needs artisans like yourself.

Wow nice work Freddy

Here is a pic of the portable spit I made, I have the small pipe right now but I have a 1.06 OD coming for a pig plus I need to add a larger tube opposite the 3/4" one in the tail support for the larger pipe.

Well, after a day of cold & damp weather, I decided that enough is enough. The EFM has been running for an hour getting itself and the radiators up to temperature.

The heat pump keeps the house pretty nice in this weather, but the basement is cold...and that makes the floors cold. What is the sense of having 100 yr old maple floors if you can't enjoy walking on them barefoot? :)

Sorry a little late for coffee. Excellent theme choice Freddy. What nice weekend it is. Little cool yesterday morning but its a balmy 64 and overcast here this morning. The leaves are really starting to change colors here. Yesterday we took my son to Tractor Supply to paint a pumpkin and for arts and crafts. Being 2 1/2 he was more then excited to put his dinosaur costume back on. A local farm donated pumpkins which was very nice. Then we went to a bon fire last nite and saw some old friends. It was very nice to catch up. Today is clean up day around the house. Have a complete HVAC system to install this week including duct work. Also at least 5 oil furnaces to clean. A very busy week ahead.
Till next week stay safe everyone.
