Yea, I went ahead and fired up my Hitzer 82FA last night, hit 78 in the house on a med-low burn.

Mind you, living 30+ years in the SW USA makes me like it warm (hot to you Yankees).

Backed her down to as low as I dare. Ahh, toasty.

It's showing 80 in my stove room 70s away from the stove. Air set to a Crack open cruising along at 300 on side of stove.

78 is a nice temp. I like it at 75 or so all the time with warmer being better than colder.

When we'd go to visit my folks in winter, my Father would have the thermostat turned up so high, he'd be sitting in the living room, in a tee shirt. Meanwhile we're all dressed for cold weather so we'd be dying of the heat.

We used to joke that his oil burner thermostat had only one setting called, "Miami".

Now that I'm getting close to what his age was then, my coal stove has developed one of those "Miami" settings, too. :D

Nice. I want one of those 82FAs. Although I can't complain about the heat that the Clayton makes for us, and neither can my wife :) She has an expression she likes to use when we have hot days over the summer, "hot as balls" lol. Occasionally I hear it in the winter too, unfortunately she's not referring to me

I finally got oil for my oil furnace after it being dormant for about 15 years. I'm letting the coal go out for a few days..........it's just too hot in here.

If one were to have the house so warm that ALL occupants were sweating & completely miserable, then one could say coal was being wasted. If one is heating their house to a temp that is comfortable for THEM ,then there is NO coal being wasted.
Actually it would be a waste of coal to be warming the house by burning coal & everyone in the house was still cold.

My Grandmother is 98 and has a double block. I have been staying next door, she keeps it around 76 and would probably turn it up higher if she knew it wouldn't cook me and everyone else out of the house. I don't mind the heat but when I come back next door where I have it around 70 I feel cold. LOL
