So my neighbor recently installed this Vermont Casting Dutchwest wood stove. And as you can see, it sits pretty far into the fireplace and his 10'x10' room doesn't seem to be getting as warm as I think it should. He does have a heat blanket blocking the old damper and a SS liner but I told him if he moves it out about 10" or so, it would make a huge difference. Will it in fact make much difference??? Will a fan on top help much?
Also, he seems to be going through a lot of wood. Even with the damper fully closed and the airflow on low, he loads the thing about every other hour. Albeit the stove is pretty small am I'm strictly a coal burner, I'm not sure how long his burn times could be.
Lastly, I found this listing on CL and am encouraging him to make the switch. As he loves the look for the Vermont Castings stove with the glass, I was wondering if this one would be a good "started stove" for him??http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/app/5884094459.html
