New Grates?

I have been trying to find grates for my old coal stove and have been striking out every where. It is a old Sunbeam Cabinet Heater made by the Fox Furnace Co. This last winter was the last for the grates. The shaker is just to far gone. The date stamped on these grates is 1946 so they have had some good years. I have called Woodmans gave them the dimensions and one was close but still not right. I have tried to search the company but so little is available. (I did find out York International closed the doors but they deny they ever heard of Fox.) If anybody has leads I could follow to get grates it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem with mine, the company that made it stopped manufacturing them about 30+ years ago. Its kind of funny, because they say they are available, they just don't have anyone left that remembers which foundry has them. You may have to modify something that is close to yours to fit your unit, maybe just the shaker grate, or possibly the grates and frames together. It would be a bit pricey to have new ones cast to say the least.

You could probably buy a used stove cheaper.
