I am looking for information on operating an original coal fireplace. The unit has an adjustable air intake below the shaker and has two vent dampers. (The smaller upper damper is fully adjustable and the larger rear damper can be left partially open with and adjuster knob which is also used for opening and closing.) There is also an ash cleanout in the basement below. I have access to both anthracite as well at bituminous coal and have tried both. The most effective way I have found is to start with a wood fire add the bituminous and when it is very hot add anthracite. I am looking for any operational assistance for this kind of stove. Web sites, experience any help is appreciated.
