With a flat grate stoker like the Keystoker, you will be very lucky to get to 30 minutes before the fire goes out. 15 minutes should be OK for the Winter. If you want to run in the Summer for DHW, you will likely need a 8 to 10 minute timer cycle.

The barometric damper has to have the weight pushed to the center and locked to have the proper balance on the damper.

Not sure what type of damper you have, but that is not at all correct for the type RC draft control that most people use.

So the feed rate is much better now and the timer seems to be holding fire with 30sec @15min.

So what's the deal using MPD with a boiler? During long call for heat the draft at the door reads .05 @ idle is sits at .01-.02. should draft remain at .02 during a long call or is the .02 just for idle draft?

The deal with an MPD on your boiler is...Do not do it.

Your draft is perfect.

+1

Anthracite + stoker + forced air + baro set with manometer = Keep it fed and empty ashes, with no remainder ;)

Just to be clear, MPD stands for Manual Pipe Dampener. This is something that you would never install on any kind of coal stoker. Although we have not seen a picture of it yet, I believe you have a Automatic Pipe Dampener (Baro) installed.

If your draft is staying negative during idle like that, you are doing well.

OK then. I guess we cleared that up. :D

I have a MPD on my stove that's why I was curious if they were used on boilers to control over draft.

Current mano at idle.

============================================================================

My flue pipes automatic barometric damper for my KAA-4-1 is set up like this Rob with the weight brought to the center and locked BUT the weight is on the right side and locked all the way to the left. This is why I mentioned it.

Ok. Have you checked the draft? Every install is different.

By the way, the weight goes on one side or the other depending on if the pipe is horizontal or vertical.

Weight is on the left for horizontal, right for vertical. Should be a "H" and "V" stamped on the slide where the weight sits.

Good Morning Rob,

The draft is perfect on my KAA-4-1 0.02(hot), I forgot about the vertical and horizontal
flue pipe locations for the weight(its been 2 years). My Field Controls Automatic Barometric Damper is vertical and the weight is on the right side but locked all the way to the left in the
groove that was stamped out for the adjustment of the weight.

We are getting rain here, it sounds like its going to be rather dicey in your neighborhood Rob.

I added a thick washer behind my weight to get enough adjustment on my KA6. Doesn't take much ;)
