**Yawn** Gosh.... Coffee is late! Late night, but... The coffee is flowing now. Come on in & share a moment in time. It's nine degrees out right now, so I'm thinking a good ol' Maine camp type breakfast is in store.... Eggs any way you want, bacon, baked beans & home fries. Ohhh, baby!

I was up late last night. T'were the first time in ages I was up & active till after midnight. Jussssst as I was going to head to bed, I sold an air filter on Ebay. It's a quirky little side line. I am the only supplier in the USA of air filters for 2004 to 2008 Arctic cat snowmobiles. It's a wicked awesome sideline! I sell 10, sometimes 12 a year! LOL So, I packaged it up & printed a label, then sold another! As I was printing that label I got a message asking for a discount if they bought three....and that let to a computer chat with a person in Japan to order more. Yes'uh! We know how to have fun up here in the northeast!

Well.... I'm thinking winter is actually here. 9 degrees, the ground is white & they are calling for 6 inches of snow within a few days. Hold on tight, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Mornin everyone. Great breakfast as usual, Freddy. Glad to hear your sideline occupation is working out. Sure beats working in a cold garage or driveway.
17 degrees here this AM and got about an inch of snow overnight. Coal furnace went out, so I've got to build a fire here sometime. Running on oil now...........I hate when that happens, LOL

Take care and be safe all.

Morning everyone...Headed out on a day trip to close up the south jersey camp. Hope there are no surprises waiting for me. If not I should be back by mid afternoon and have time to finally get the hydrostatic oil changed in the tractors. Been trying to get that done for two weeks but keep getting sidetracked.

Might have a line on another stoker project but I cant get there until Tuesday so it may be snatched up by then.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all, thanks for the coffee Freddy, weather is a bit ahead here, cold & we had about 15 inches when I checked last night. Had a good friend pass last Friday (his choosing), I'm kind of kicking myself since we were having brunch with the wives on Veterans Day & he briefly mentioned how they aren't taking much care at all of the old vets. My wife caught it & I kind of let it slip but maybe just maybe if I had talked more & maybe afterwards it might have helped, I thought all was going great for him. They moved here about two years ago & had just had a big pole barn built by the Amish & brought up his 69 Nova, bought all the toys he wanted, just never know what's in someone's mind. Enough of that I hope all have a safe & warm weekend, I'm just hoping the neighbor comes by with the plow or no Sat. Night date for the wife & I but we'll muddle on by somehow. Live for today as there are no guarantees! :)

Good morning Friends, sounds yummy Freddy( well all but the eggs  ) Not much going on just keeping the stove humming along. They took my father to Hos---- House on Tuesday to get his stuff straight for his pain( to doped up to function and still had pain) with the Doctor on site its much easier to do it there then at home, he will be home either today or tomorrow but he is doing a lot better now as he can now use his walker and goto the bathroom by himself which is a huge deal for a very self-sufficient person like him. I know he wants to be back home in a big way so he actually listened to the doctors and nurses and did what they said which surprised the hell out of us :o .
Not real cold here ( 25° right now) but we did get some snow in the past day and a half which will help for skiing :D That seems like a nice little sideline Freddy and before you know it may turn into something much bigger if you let it!.
Have a good week to come and stay safe. :)

Good morning. Hockey practice is at 9 instead of 8 today, so I actually have some time to sit down with a cup of coffee. This afternoon we are going to get our Christmas tree, and I might even put up some lights outside.

My chickens seem to be doing fine in the colder weather - the heated base for the water is working great. I just cooked up a pile of eggs for everyone - even the dogs got a few.

Morning Gang :)

Good to see all those smiling faces in here today. :D

Today we will make the trip to bring home our new puppy, he is just 8 weeks old today.
This one will make our 3rd in a row Golden Retreiver, our last one had past on back in Sept. 2015.

Along with a new puppy and our adult children being home for the holidays this should make for a very special time together. 8-)

Hug your Loved Ones, and have a Good Week All.

Morning all,

Breakfast sounds great, although I'll pass on the baked beans. Winter has finally found us. We woke up to a feels like temp of 21* but the wind doesn't seem to be blowing much. The Marks Brothers are keeping up with the cold, no problem. In fact, I barely have the air gauge cracked, leaving me a ton of room to really crank them up should the need for more heat arise. No snow for us this time around but we'll get some rain on Monday with rising temps.

Not much planned for the day, but DK and I are watching the Army/Navy game this afternoon. That's something we always do. We really don't care who wins but hope for a good game. Philadelphia is going to have real feel temp of 29* at kick off which combined with Navy injuries may help the Army. Probably not, it all comes back to being the Army/Navy game which on any given day, anything can happen.

Hey, maybe I'll put up the Christmas tree, what a concept. Take care, Lisa

Good Morning y'all . Not too bad here. At least not yet.. 19*, and gloomy overcast.. The forecast guesses that we will have a few snow showers today, with steady snow starting sometime around midnight tonight..
Snow is supposed to turn to steady light to moderate by 6AM Sunday morning. Sunday all day is supposed to be steady light to moderate snowfall, with a total of 5-9 inches by midnight Sunday night..

So, I guess I need to fire up the plow truck, it needs a bit of TLC to nurse it through another winter.. I hope the field mice didn't move in during the summer, I did start it up and move it around for trimming the weeds around the trucks and tractors this summer, Maybe the mice didn't move in..
What happens is the mice find a way into the truck heaters, and make a nest in the heat/air-conditioning box. and mice pee in their own nests.. So when you fire up the heater while plowing snow.. you have a mouse-piss sauna in the truck.. rather nasty and nauseating. :-) The last two years, the mice did not move into this '99 dodge ram truck, so maybe the Dodge heater is not prone to offering a good place for a mouse nest ? I know that the GM/Chevy trucks did, I've had two GM 4x4 plow trucks that got just too nasty to use. Since the GM trucks tend to become FlintStone-mobiles, [the floor rots out, leaving an open 'window' to the ground], I just scrapped them, or sold them.
This current Dodge gasoline 4x4 plow truck is in typical rust-belt condition: it has a 'hula-skirt' lower edge on all the sheet metal. so bad that if I drive the car down the road to a neighbor's, the mud/snow off the front tires fills up the lower part of the doors, and freezes, making the window mechanisms useless.. Maybe I'll spray the lower insides of the doors with Fluid Film this year.. if I remember.. :-)

Well, none of the chores are getting done while I'm on the computer..

Take care everyone.

Greg L

'Morning crew,

Just a note of thanks to the good ole gang here on the forum. Last weekend's coffee sure seemed to be a downer with the discussion of our loved ones' health issues. But I am happy to say that my MIL is still with us as I type this.

AND I WANT TO THANK THOSE WHO CONTACTED MYSELF AND KEEPANEYEONIT !!!!

Hearing words of encouragement at times such as this from someone out in cyberland really does help. With the exception of an occasional meet and greet or the chance to meet someone in person possibly from a helpful hand or selling something, most of our contact is only through the keyboard. Taking the time to personally contact each other in times of need or consolation is a God send. And that is what makes the here coal forum as great as it is !!!!

Sam sorry to hear about your friend. Let that be a reminder to all of us to really listen to others. Sometimes it is the little clues that need to be heard to save someone from hurting themselves or family members.

Freddy and JJ, keep that snow coming. I would like to see a nice amount on the ground by the time we get up there this year.

Time to get the new fuel lines on my F 250 today as sooner or later, it will be needed here to plow.

Take care gang. This cold weather is what all of us look forward to.........

Rick

Good morning all,

-2F this a.m. We have over 30 inches of snow on the ground. The coal stoves are working well. The 507s are running at 850F as I forgot to bring them off of idle last night so they are quickly doing their part to bring the house temp to 75F. I need to get motivated as I have a ton of coal that needs to be unloaded today. The 507 in the shop managed to keep the shop at 60F last night. Not bad since it is only running at 400F. I guess I will be assisting the wife with the xmas tree today as well as shoveling the snow off of the shop roof. I hope everyone has a safe and productive weekend.

The snowman.

Hey Gang,Life's Good !

Just got up,as I'm living the life of a "sickly boy" :bag: Had some extensive oral surgery Thursday. Complications developed, and needless to say,the whole deal turned into a long day. Looks like this damned thing is gonna stretch into next week,so it's about all I've had going on. I've somehow avoided using the opioid painkillers and survived on advil's,sheer determination, and a back to Nature Poultice made from one of 'Ol Freetown Fred's Woolrich Coffee Sock Filters that We've used right here at this "ol Coffeehouse ! :smoke:

Bye the way,no jokes,We've gotten damn near 3 feet of Ohio White.....aka "Lake Effect Snow"..... We're not going anywhere, and don't care to ! Stay warm,Everyone !!

Late as usual, but just too busy. Trying to finish up a flip for friends and then my grandson turned 1 today....turned that into an opportunity to walk some land for sale. We are listing the house in Jan as the market is hot right now here and particularly our neighborhood. I am champing at the bit to get out of the suburbs and build my own house and have room for "things".
Weather wise it was sub 30 2 nights ago and about 30 this morning. Hope that is it for the winter....lol
Looks like the upper tier of states is going to get whacked regularly. Just please keep it up there.
Got my first batch of Maine blackberry wine brewing up, cant wait to test it out!

Take care all with health problems and aging relatives.....hope the holidays pass well for everyone.

Kevin
