Electricity rates in California

Electricity rates in California

PostBy: stoker-man On: Thu May 15, 2008 11:18 am

I had a call from a guy in central CA the other day, looking for estimated costs of heating his house with our electric boiler. He was heating with wood, so I didn't have anything to compare it with.

When I asked for the cost per kilowatt hour of electric in his area, it was well off the fuel comparison chart I just got from Penn State.

Their top tier rates are 37 cents per kwh. Mid range was 27 cents. Don't even know if that includes taxes. I asked him to keep his environmental laws out there and not export them to PA. Even when PPL raises their rates to 13 cents per kwh, which includes taxes, it will still seem like a bargain.

You just have to love the state of Commiefornia.. land of tree huggers,, that live in appartment buildings in San Fransisco, hardly ever get out of the city,, they are too busy protesting, and picketing... But they love trees, spotted owls, and any other wackko venue they can attach themselves to..

I travel out to that area all the time,, it is so amusing to hear the local wackos talk,,, they have no clue... when I tell them they are way off, and tell them that since they own, maintain and get their hands dirty with only a flower pot, and I own 175+ acres of 'nature', they usually shut up...

My other favorite is people who live near airports.. my company was offered access to Long Beach airport,, and we service that airport very well, we have created a business boom, and employement boom for the area... But the promised extra arrival/departure slots that were promised early on, were denied due to the 'added noise'... well due to competition, the noisy MD80's have gone away, our quiet Airbus' have 1/3 the 'noise footprint' of the MD80's, but the city council doesn't want to look a science... they just see more arrivals and departures... AND, ge this.. The military opperates C141's out of there,, a very noisy plane, and UPS opperates very noisy older freight hauling planes in/out of there... we are the quiet guys,, and are denied what was promised at the 'get-go' What a bunch of wackkos

Rant over :x :D

Greg,

What's a C140? I've heard of 130's and 141's, jumped out of both, and 117's, after my time in service. Was it just a typo or a new plane?

Thanks Bill, that was a typo.. C141's and I think they may have C-17's there.. I'm not a military airplane guy.. but I know when they depart the airport... our hotel is at the airport, just across the street..

You jumped out of perfectly good airplanes???  :D [standing joke by pilots who do NOT parachute]

Take care,, Greg

Does anybody remember the rolling brownouts the had back in 2000? just like that wacko said today about the gay mar law imposed on the people of the Union of California Socialist Republic. "What starts in California spreads all over the country." We are now trying to do nationwide what governer grayout Davis tried to do to the people of California. Let's not build anymore oil refineries or power plants. Yeah the tree huggers are winning. 4.75 gal diesel and 3.75 gas. But even though there are 5 times more polar bears than in 1975 We just guaranteed 5.00 gal gasoline!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D We'll have rolling blackouts all over the country like they did in California Never fear in the Philippines they used to have that problem, you just had to be careful not to trip over all of the hundreds of honda generators that lined the city sidewalks with no mufflers or emmision controals. Gee, I could go for some spotted owl stew right now. If you liked Bush you'll love Obama.
