Sad to say, but we found Corky dog yesterday. He was about a half a mile away and had gone through thin ice. Charlie and I managed to get him out of the ice and I brought him home for Keeoh dog to sniff & say goodbye, then Linda & I gave him a proper burial. Wrapped in his favorite "go to camp" blanket I laid him to rest facing the rising sun.

I found him because a neighbor told me they thought they saw him in the morning in that area. It's really weird how things work out. I never would have found him without that tip.....but, they could not have seen him. Evidence strongly shows he met his demise Sunday or early Monday. He left giant paw prints in frozen slush as he tried to cross the stream. There was only a 12 hour window that we had that slush.

That means he survived for 4 days in 10 below zero weather, quite close to home, yet was never seen. *sigh*

I am thankful for all that helped in whatever ways. Some with words, some with hands on looking. Thank you all.

Freddy,
Sorry to here the sad news. Knowing that 'foul play' was not involved does not bring him back, but, now you know it was an accident. RIP Corky.

I feel for you Freddy.
I just lost Bandit a short while ago and this brought those memories flooding back. I'm hoping that Bandit was there to greet Corky when he crossed over. RIP, Corky.

Freddy,

So sorry to read this. It is 1 day away from the 5 year mark that I put down my "Opiey."

Having farm ponds we always worried about the dogs getting out on the thin ice as we would see their paw prints on the ice never knowing when they actually were on it.

Perhaps Opiey was waiting at the gate for Corky ???

Again my sincere condolences,

Rick

ps. This month really sucks. So many of my friends have lost loved ones in the past several weeks. And now sadly, my mother in law will probably be gone within the next 24-36 hours according to the hospice nurse. Hurry up and get here 2017. I can't take much more of this year.
