Pink or tan ash. They blend coal from various sources to have a more consistent product.ddahlgren wrote:Where does Blaschack fit into the red / white ash mix? I am guessing red as the ash looks red to me and have run across lumps of coal I did not even bother putting in the stove as sure looked like so loaded with iron it was noticeably red on the surface.

This year, I have red ash from burning "Buck Wheat" in the house. The ash is red, and very light weight. The chestnut in shop is white ash. Heavier in weight. Both make heat.
The chestnut is slow to get ignited. Once ignited, it seems to burn ok. I did have a few bags that were 50/50 (half coal, half rocket fuel). What's up with that???
The buck gets run through the Kaa-2 stoker. Nothing seems to change. Coal gets pushed on to grate, it burns, and ashes pushed off.
