Coal trol versus any other programable theromstat

I read alot about the coal trol. What would make it better than a say honey well programable thermostat for my EFM 520?

I think a Coaltol actually runs the boiler whereas the Honeywell just adjusts the temp. Different thing altogether.

Coal-trol is a total control for specific stoker stoves. I do not believe they work with hydronic systems, or furnaces.

I didn't see anything that referred to boilers, either, just hot air systems.

When we bought the current hiuse we are in, i made a comment when i walked in that there was room for my moose i had not shot yet. The lady who owned the hiuse at that time kept asking my realtor if that "moosman" guy was going to buy the house.. Realtor was good friend and started calling me that, it just stuck. There is a moose in that spot now!

Alaskan Moose? or somewhere else? That aint no moose in your avatar pic....lol. I would not think it was cold enough to run an EFM520 in Virginia......must idle a bunch.

Kevin

Errr. Just looked at Winchester.....I can see ya getting some cold weather....it all blends together in my runs back to Maine and such.

mooseman,

I have a Tork, percentage timer on my EFM DF 520, for about 5 years. Very easy to make adjustments and to understand. Good luck - John

The Coal Trol is not for a boiler. It's for hot air stokers, the heart of it is the control box on the stoker.

As you know with coal when the demand for heat from the thermostat stops the heat being produced from the stoker does not stop. What the coal trol does is take into account the peculiarities of coal and optimizes them for efficiency and a more steady heat.

Just to reiterate what others have noted: Coal-trol is not intended for use on boilers nor as a means to control valving/pumping on boiler system heat exchangers.
