I just cut up air gun nozzle which should work. love how it says never adjust combustion yet there's a sticker on the shield that says start 50% covered and aim for .02 .05 something along those lines. glad I paid a "professional"

ok so I have a .04 in the stack and it's so warm the barometer is fully shut. today's a bad test day. anyway while in the fire box I'm .02 and whether the combustion is all the way open or 90% closed .02 fire box Is constant

is it too big a fire? this is combustion 40% open. Opening the door makes a big difference .026 to .01. Why when I have combustion 20% open or 100% open no change. When I open barometer I do see a change though so im happy with that. I tried backing fire away to where it was not bouncing off the roof. Still too big? varies .02 - .026

You should adjust the draft to the suggested level, and then adjust the combustion air to achieve a proper fire pattern - then recheck the draft and make a small adjustment if needed.
How tall the fire is is irrelevant. What you want is for the burning coal to cover most of the air holes in the grate after 20-30 minutes of run time. Some guys crank the air way up and think they are doing great because the fire is bright and high....but they are blowing air through ashes that just steals BTU's out of the appliance before it goes up the chimney.

I guess I don't know how to adjust draft it's at .04 fully closed. push it open goes to .03. I'll hopefully Get higher numbers when it's colder so I can adjust. right now there's no adjusting
