Uncle, seal the door, the other leaks are after the burn pot and will only slow draft not increase stove temp. Unless your stove is stalling and you cant build a good draft, focus about the door for now..... you'll see a dramatic change in control.....

Well finally got it done. Decided to enjoy the heat while it was still cold out. But it's going up to 65 today. So I let it got out. But then back down to 21 degrees with an 80 percent chance of snow. So, I'll have him back up just in time for the silicone to be really dry.

Now about my craftsmanship. I have none :rimshot: Firstly, the silicone wouldn't come out of the whole due to being too dry at the top. I learnt this after my caulk gun started oozing silicone from the back of the gun. I was so tempted to take it back to the hardware store, but I remembered that it was the last one on the shelf. And I really didn't feel like going out So I got one of the wife's kabob sticks and went in from the front end making a clear path for it to ooze out of the front end. After cleaning up the mess of course.

I siliconed around the door and placed parchment paper over the door and shut the door. I probably shut it too tight. That's why I decided to silicone the door as well. I took the door off the hinges and gave it a bead around the door itself.

I tried to pull the parchment paper off but it's stuck really good. I could get it off without hindering the silicone, but that's when I got the bright ideal to put silicone on the door as well and not worry about it sticking together.

Also, back when I started this thread I sealed the other spots that the smoke test revealed as leaks with high temperature. Now I have notice a drop in temperature since I made the first seals high temperature fire barrier. With the dampers completely closed Herald would settle in around 400 degrees. But that still too hot. I remember when I first got Mr Herald I could get him down to around 200 with the dampers completely shut. I hope I haven't damaged him somehow. I say that because I can't imagine the door just to start having air leaks out of thin air. No pun intended. By the way the door has a super tight shut now when I close the door with the silicone deal.
