Good morning. Welcome to the coffee house. Hot coffee, cool friends. It's a weekly affair that makes sense of the world no matter what else goes on in the world. Come in, have a seat, speak, or just listen. It's all good. What's to eat today? Cold cereal, fresh fruit & orange juice. OK, let's get started!

1-21..... we are a full month into longer days. Ahhhh, Nice! The days are getting a tiny bit longer. Pretty soon we'll be mowing the lawn. It's starting to look like this is another winter that wasn't. It's aiming into the 40's today & mild for the next several days. I think somehow they moved Maine south!

I washed the car the other day & let it dry for two days. Yesterday I got it into the shop & sprayed with Fluid film. It's a 2007 CRV & shows zero rust, but underneath it is finally showing a tiny bit. I want to keep on top of it & hope this thing will last another 10 or 15 years.

Hope you all have a smooth weekend. Hug your loved ones & forward we go!

Mornin everyone.
Thanks for the breakfast idea Freddy, and I'm supplying the cereal. A nice big helping of 'fruit loops' for everyone after this past election season. :) :)

Yes, it has been a strange winter. I've only had to clear my driveway of snow twice so far this year. Can't wait for spring as I'm tired of winter already.

Take care and be safe all

Its Robs fault - he was the one that bought a snowblower this year! (Thanks Rob!!) :D

Quick breakfast this morning of anything soft - I have two teeth that need to be pulled this coming week and the advil is losing the effect its had the last few weeks dulling the pain while eating. Supposed to go up to 55* here today. I am trying to get some stuff done this morning and I may head to the golf course this afternoon to walk around and swing the clubs  golf in late Jan...whodathunk it?!

Have a great day!

Good morning Freddy and friends and how everyone? not enjoying this crap weather at all, wet soggy SH-- I want cold and snow!!!
Our washer and dryer finally needed replaced( not that I'm in a hurry to replace a 27 year old set with the newer crap) so we ordered a set from HD for around $1000 so I'm not real sad, just a simple not to many bells and whistles and with a agitator, I can't believe how hard It Is to find washers with them but I do here there making a come back, anyways there got delivered last Saturday with a smashed dryer so we kept the washer and rejected the dryer! going to try again today hopefully without any problems.
I have been trying to sell my fathers car ( 2003 Mercury Grand Marques with 74,900 Miles on It ) the car always ran like a top well that was until someone came to look at It, that day It was running like crap with a bad miss fire so I changed the plugs ( originals were not looking so good ) didn't help so I bought a scanner( I have always wanted one for home anyways so that gave me an excuse to get a small one with live PID reads) and found a bad coil pack so I will be working to resolve that today now maybe I can sell It, but I'm that person that falls into a bed of roses and comes out smelling like sh-- :D . Have fun friends and enjoy the read of your stay

Morning all,

The one place you don't want to be is on the Capital Beltway and the interstates out of the city. Everything is packed! The Capital city is still all shut down due to the "Women's March". They are using heavy vehicles, buses and garbage trucks, to make barriers around the city to block access to the mall and government buildings. It's a good place to be from today.

We are heading to a high of 59* this afternoon. Dk and I will take the Trikes out later and stretch our legs a little. I have mine set up for indoor use but haven't been able to use it a lot due to my fall earlier in the month so today will be a short, easy ride. We have a goal of doing a long distance ride this year - maybe the Erie Canal ride in mid-July. We won't do the entire ride - only a couple of days of the 8 days - but even that's going to mean an average of 55 miles a day. Road training for that will start in late March.

My project for the week is working on the Vermont Vigilant stove I picked up. I haven't been able to find a coal kit for it so it's staying a wood burner. I'll paint it, replace the gaskets and put new handles on it. It's been well taken care of and in great shape. Then I'll find a good home for it. That shouldn't be hard. A lot of people around here heat their houses with wood in an open fireplace. My local church leaders should be able to find someone who could benefit from it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, take care, Lisa

Good morning my coal friends. Some time has passed since I have been able to take part in a saturday morning coffee. Its gonna 50ish with some sun today here in NEPA. Be nice to get all the christmas decorations off the deck and cleanup from all the wind over the past month. Makes for a nicer spring time when I get a jump on the fallen winter brush. Im sure the cold will return soon enough so enjoy the warm days as we have them. Ive burnt about 2 ton of the black rocks since end of september so I feel im doing pretty good. I hope everyones weeking be enjoyable!

Personal safety comes first FF, in the 50s here as well & another of the advantages of living here is when you run a mower around the yard in Jan. no one calls the wife to report a crazy husband. We have a couple of trees that don't let go of leaves until the snow pulls them off, so give me a day like today & I'll rake what I have to then chop the rest up with the mower. Hope all have a good safe weekend. :)

Got caught in the thick stuff like that once and had to get out of the car. I held one hand to the hood and the other I waved out front and had the wife drive s l o w l y along as I felt the way. I almost had a heart attack when my hand touched the neighbors hand in the fog. He and his wife were coming the other way. :D

This is what happens when you are retired with too much time on your hands. If my leaves don’t fall when they are supposed to “to hell with ‘em”. I knew an old retired guy who would shovel the snow deposits apart on his yard so the grass would green up evenly.
