Kiss this month good bye, but kiss some of the best coffee on Earth hello! Ahhhh, good stuff. Come on in and enjoy some, or maybe a cup of tea. Settle down for a minute & share a thought. The griddle is heating up....French toast anyone? There are some big flat sausage patties too, if your cholesterol needs a boost.

Another week of the winter that wasn't. We had some sleet change to rain this week. That's starting to get boring. How about a big ol' blizzard like storm? Just one would be nice for the books. So far I think the biggest snow we've had was less then 6" of fluff. Fer crying out loud, we saw robins this week! I don't think I've ever seen one before March, & this year they are here almost every day now. Very strange.

I went to a neighbors to give advice on his AHS 130 coal boiler. He said he's been happy with his old stock of Reading bagged coal. Then he admitted that this is the third time this year that his hopper has clogged from wet fines and grumpy coal. I told him "The only reason that you think Reading is good is that you have never had GOOD!" I told him to go find some Kimmels or Blaschak. I'm sure he won't have a clogged hopper after that. I did mention that some have reported that Reading seems better this year, but all of his stuff is a couple years old.

To the future we go!

Good morning, french toast sounds good.
I guess it depends where you live. We had 12" of snow in one day a few weeks ago. I have to agree it has been less cold. I let the fire go out in my stove this week because it was in the fifties one day this week. I got a fire going again last night because we are looking at a little colder for a while. No set plans for the day, but I hope to get some time outside to enjoy some sun.

Hi all hows things? not much here just taking my old washer & dryer to the scrap yard and waiting for a potential buyer for the Hitzer so If things go right it will have a new home :) .
I did fix the Mercury and sold it last Saturday afternoon so thats gone and now my daughter has more $$$ for the bank( my father gave her the car before he passed and since she is 12 she gets the $$$ instead) and I finally broke down as hard as it was to  and ordered a new truck, 2017 F350 XLT crew cab diesel cab&chassis 4X4 (8 to 10 week lead time  ) and the semi custom aluminum flatbed will be ordered in 2 weeks (4 to 6 weeks lead time on it) I like the new ones I just hope its 1/2 as good as the old one then I will be happy but only time will tell.
Things are almost rapped up with my fathers stuff and there going very sooth so far, I'm very great full he insisted on taking care of things while he was alive, that made things very easy for me and my sister so kudos to you Pops  .
Take care friends stay safe, warm, and be happy :D .

I took a couple days off for a day trip to NH. My wife found a place to take a dog sled ride. Mt youngest is an outdoor kid and an animal lover so it was just the thing for him. Pretty amazing how hard 9 dogs can pull.

We got breakfast at a place called the "Water Wheel". Great little spot if you're ever in the area.

Too bad it's wood, but they have a pretty stove in there. My wife asked if they use it and the waitress says "Yes, when it gets cold."
It was 29*, snowing with some wind gusts. I guess that isn't cold in NH. :)

Mornin everyone. Breakfast sounds great, Freddy. I love french toast and sausage. That's unreal that you are seeing Robins in Maine, I haven't noticed any around here. Everything is white, but there isn't a lot of snow.

Take care and be safe all.

Morning everyone,

Breakfasts is wonderful as usual. We saw some snow flakes yesterday - if you looked hard and didn't blink. The temperatures are back to a seasonable average which around here is the low 30s. The Marks brothers are barely breaking a sweat.

My goal for the day was to replace the locks on the front and back door. Of course, nothing goes exactly right when you replace anything. The new dead bolt for the back door fit the old hole perfectly but the door knob was a different story. That hole and latch is going to have to be trimmed just a smidgen but it's not something I feel comfortable doing. I was able to get a plain "hallway" knob to fit so there isn't' a hole in the door until DK can look at it. My solution is to buy a new door. I've hated this one since we moved in 30 years ago but couldn't justify buying a new without a better reason. Now I have a better reason. :)

I hope the front door replacement lock goes a lot better. Other then that not much else going on. Take care, Lisa

Freddy, say it ain't so.......... I now need the snow.

I just took possession of this beauty last night and it needs to get used.

I would like to try it here in PA before we head up your way the 1st week of March. We will be staying around Moosehead Lake again on the left side. This baby needs to stretch her legs on the Lake and trails. Hopefully next weekend I can take a trip upstate here and find some snow. It looks like the lake effect machine may start up this week to give us some riding.

Barry, glad to hear that your affairs are going smoothly. We are experiencing the same thing here as well. Only problem is that the lawyer is on a 3 week vacation so we are on hold until he gets back. But the majority of the work has already been done.

Freetown Fred, carrying feed buckets 5 miles must keep you in good shape....... toothy :nana:

And this French toast hit the spot. I was never a fan of pancakes, but give me some French toast and I'm a happy camper !!!!

Time to install some accessories on the new sled and then kick back for the weekend.

I hope everyone enjoys the day with family and loved ones.

Rick

Good Morning and Adios January !! :dancing:

I've been logged on,back and forth, since much earlier this a.m. . Seems that I lost out on hitting the Coffeehouse Door the first time around ! Oh,and then this Good 'Ol Johann Wayne Movie comes on,so the Fur Kids and I just had to sit down with that 3rd cup of Coffee and.......

Well,You get 'Da Picture ! I've been in quite the muddle, most likely since my last cigarette I smoked back on Dec 9th. My Dentist, and then the Oral Surgeon begged me not to smoke for at least a month after my Major Oral Surgery with Complications. I hated wasting their Good Work,so,along with nothing pulled through a straw, nor pullin' a vacuum on a cig, here I still am. I actually feel better, and I've actually put on about 10 easy pounds.......

I actually am embarrassed for not smoking.

I had always hoped to die with a smoke burning between my two fingers. I made plans for throwing one Helluva Party when the Stage 4 Lung Cancer Diagnosis would come in. After all,I'd actually be responsible for achieving it,due to owning the fact that I'm an Unabashed,Proud and Committed Smoker. I'd always had my middle finger extended Proudly into the face of the Self-Righteous,The Preachy, and those Just Wonderful Body Beautifuls who claimed that their body was "A Temple" and it takes 20 mins. to pull them away from a mirror ! Oh,and while I'm at it,travel to Hell,Dr. Toby Cosgrove of the Cleveland Clinic. I'll see Your Sell-Out Ass there when my time comes....... The sooner the better !

Whew ! :woot: Thanx ! :notworthy:

So glad to get that steaming dungheep of a mindset off my back !!

I guess now that I've figured out what's been eating me,I can thank You Poor Bastards, and Bastardettes, for listening to that paragraph of mind-numbing mental blackhole drivel !! I do believe in the Power of 'Da Coffehouse, and am sincerely appreciative of All of You. Now I think I can move forward with a smile on my face,a song in my Heart, and I can now resist the urge to spit at every treadmill and/or piece of workout hardware I pass !

I am no longer a Warrior. I am no longer a Man. I am now what I've dreaded becoming the most-a middle-aged Survivor who is no longer allowed, nor qualified to stick his neck out......

Thank God ! I've been getting sore way too easily, and I think it's way past time to start my new Career/Hobby-Drinking a beer by a damned nice and comfortable Campfire ! Oh Yeah,I gotta get back into Fruit Tree Propagation and Gardening. What the Hell,it All sounds Genuinely, with no Sarcasm, like a Damned Good Time that I've truly earned !! More Positive Stuff to follow, much like Coal Burnin' !!

Take Honest Good Care of Yourselves,Gang ! :drunk:

No robins lately, but seen 3 Turkey Vultures flying over yesterday. Is still January and they usually come by in mid-March.

The bee hives had fliers day after Christmas and many other day that reached their threashold temp.

Try some honey in your tea...or even on that french toast. :)

Hambden Bob, what are you smoking? :eek2: :D
Fred, thanks for opening up, yet another week-end. Who needs to go out, when all the entertainment is here with you fine folks.
Just returned from the Big E train show. Man, do they pack them in! As Donald Trump would say, it was"HUGE"!
As Fred also mentioned, another week of tepid temperatures. The G111 is still idling along, waiting to spread it's wings. Don't see anything coming yet.
(I know. Watch out for what you wish for)
Enjoy your weekend people.

Good afternoon. It was a quiet day for us, no roaring wind, no hockey, no appointments. I enjoyed using my snow blower for the first time, it ran excellent and did a great job. My mom and dad took our oldest son to a college hockey game this afternoon, and our youngest is taking a power nap, so it has been REAL quiet.

Not much else for news. My trusty desktop computer is starting to give me fits. I bought it used in 2008, so I can't complain much. It still runs good IF it turns on, but sometimes it just beeps and won't boot up. I have to wiggle all the parts to get it to fire up. I am taking that as a warning, and ordered a used Dell on ebay. I love those PC's that are off-lease from an office environment, I got a great PC for quite a bit less than I can even buy a cheapo locally.

Bob, congrats on the big smoke out. Stick with it. Spend some of the money on beer. :)

Uhh....Yeah ! :dancing:

That just about covers it,Freddo ! Can't quite tell 'Ya why, how, who or what led me to my very Public Let-Go while downing a Coffee this a.m. at Our usual corner table, but I dunno,I sure as Hell feel alot better and haven't looked back all day !!

While it may not feel or be pretty as this a.m.'s CoffeeHouse Cuckoo,I must confess, the sterling combination of self-embarassment and humiliation experienced during my exposure of weakness and Human Failing sure as Hell did the trick !!

Can't wait to now get on with Life and experience alot more of the small-commonplace things that absolutely thrill a Fat Old Guy like me !!

Bring On the 2017 Coal Meet-N-Greet ! :verycool: :dancing:
