I have a feeling my photo of the refractory job is upside down. I'm still getting used to a "smart phone". Since I couldn't fit the coal stove into my kitchen stove (demolition saw out of gas) I am putting hot bricks in it. My infer red thermometer says it's at 112 deg in the bowl, so it's working.

Isn’t there a product by... HCL? HCI? That you can hammer out to about a quarter of an inch and press into the firebox? I looked for it without success over a couple of years

Maybe that’s it? You know I was on the phone with Wilson in a really noisy place when he called... Thank you. You know I haven’t been at this long enough to know much but I think I’m reading that using the cement we get in Canada, which is only for wood fuel, actually can cause cracks because it contracts at a different rate but I might not have that right. Gist of it being I’d like to use the right product and the poundable stuff sounded perfect. I’ve found it online thanks again.
It’s a huge industrial site. Does anyone know where that refractory material can be bought? I can’t find any threads about it.

Wilson has, showed evidence that they were glued in at one time. But, I think that contributed to their many cracks by not allowing the bricks to "float" - to shift around slightly to be able to compensate for temperature expansion/contraction differences within firebed.

There. I found it. It’s Sunny talking about bricks in a Glenwood. I wasn’t quite right though.
