Side piece below fire pot fall out?

Ash pan was wedged in and it turns out it is the side cover for the fire pot. How does that happen? On the 2 coldest days will have to shut down and burn down to put it back in what can suck more than that?

It is burning fine stove top 400 probe 300 so far just let it cook down slowly/ Will shake and floss to get as much as possible while draft is good.

Somehow it seems like the firepot does not sit on top of them and above the flange on the frame it should sit on by about 3/16 of an inch. There is nothing between the flange and firepot and fire pot seated on the bottom with no grates pinched as all move free. How does this happen? I can investigate this summer but only 6 to 8 weeks left of coal season so will ignore the very end grates when poking and flossing for now.
