Good morning. Come in, Join us for a moment & share a quick cup of coffee. Brrrrr... 3 below zero. I'm thinking hot cakes for breakfast. The coal is keeping the abode warm, but we need some heat for our bodies. Anyone got any maple syrup? I'm running low! Sap season isn't any time soon. I may have to settle for some Canadian made stuff. ( Which is still wonderful stuff)
It's 72 degrees in my garage. My buddy "Scottie" has a plow with a sander & the sand froze in it yesterday. He knows enough to not leave sand in it, but it actually froze while driving an hour to his next job. He plows & sands cell phone towers all over the place. We had to take the plow off it to fit it in the garage. Good thing I have a 96 inch opening.... his truck looks to be 95! It's been in there for 15 hours now, I think it's thawed by now. Gotta go check.
The Lego Batman movie is here. My buddy Paul is donning the Batman suit & spending the day at the movie theater. Linda & I will be going..... I am his make up man. It takes a half hour or so to paint his eyes black. How many of us can give a friend black eyes & stay friends? Linda & I will get to go see movies for free. Heeheee!
I hope you are all staying warm. Hug your loved ones & forward we go!

Good idea! maple syrup! I have some from upstate New York. I think some homemade waffles be in order this morning with fresh fruit, Amish sausage, fresh farm eggs, fried potato's, homemade biscuit's, apple butter and a Yuengling Porter! YUM!!! By the way, it's 57 here this morning, boiler is at idle, but it won't last I'm sure.

Today will start the second sap run. First gave a few gallons of finished syrup.
We should get at least three runs this year. It is a winter sport for sure.

Morning everyone,
Hotcakes will definitely hit the spot this morning. I have no maple syrup to bring but how about some honey?
Our brief brush with winter came and went rather quickly. We woke up Thursday with seasonable cold temps at 36* but no snow. That changed about 3 pm when a fast moving faux blizzard blew through leaving the grass coated white and the roads wet. Yesterday it was 23* feels like 11* before hitting a high of 45*. That was it; nothing to write home about. The Marks Brothers didn't even blink.
I'm considering letting the stoves go out as the next 15 days is forecast for highs around 45 or 50* and lows around freezing. We are well insulated so the current natural gas prices the whole house furnace won't have to work too hard. I could save the coal for real winter when it shows up. I need a ruling - do you lose your membership in the "one match club" if you let the stove go out as opposed to losing the fire?
Since today's high is going to be around 65* (tomorrow's 70*) I'm going to pull the Trikes out and do some maintenance. DK rigged mine up with a "roller" on the drive wheel so I've been able to use it inside. That's good because I need to keep up with our training plan as we are planning a multi-day bike tour for the late June, early July time frame. We are not sure where we are going yet but it will be 50 or 60 miles a day. We'll have to do a rehearsal ride in early June to determine if we can complete that distance. Fortunately, the VA Capitals Trail - Richmond to Williamsburg - is 60 miles and runs along RT 5 and the James River. We could be easily rescued if need be. We'll start in Richmond and go to our daughter's in Williamsburg and then do it backwards the next day. If we can do that, we should be ok for the longer trip. We'll see how it works out.
Well, I guess I'll get started with my day. Take care, Lisa

Morning all, need this coffee bad. No sleep from building houses in my head and searching for another home. Sold our house in 15 days, so we are homeless. The big problem is there is no quality housing here and we are searching for a unicorn. Looking at 5 today, plus some lots to build on....at least we are not buried in snow.

Mornin everyone.
Hot cakes sound great, Freddy. Woke up to 40 degrees outside this AM. Going into the 50's today and tomorrow, then snow again the first of the week. Weather report is calling for a blizzard up your way. Movie time sounds great also, hope you have a great time.
Take care and be safe all

Good morning. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend. After a very long week of trying to sort our an inventory disaster at work, I just found out that I have to go into work tomorrow to resolve the stuff that no one has figured out yet. Nothing like a 40 mile commute in a blizzard. I guess the bright side is that I may finally get to put a tank of gas through that John Deere snow blower.

Well might not have won the prize for chilliest or snow depth...
But hit the Jackpot for wind speed...
woooooohoooooo...
Looks like we might hit 74 this next storm...
Just gust speed not sustained so not a snowcane...
Lost power for 12 hours...
house held the heat well only went to 55*...
Stove not yet hooked up...
gonna be a spring project...

I'd say if it's going to be 60 tomorrow, you made it through the winter on one match. Good job! Congrats!lowfog01 wrote: I need a ruling - do you lose your membership in the "one match club" if you let the stove go out as opposed to losing the fire?
