Good day! Please, stop in & have a cup of coffee.

Gotta see Linda off... she's headed back to PA for a bit. Stay warm, fix breakfast, I'll be back!

< 5 minutes later>.......................................................................................

Well, that didn't take long. As they say, sooner gone, sooner back, but maybe not in this case. A one week trip was planned, but just got word that a close friend of hers has gone into Hospice care. Another darn cancer victim. Last September her friend Deb was diagnosed stage 4. Lung cancer had already spread by the time it was noticed. She's only 50ish years old. So, Linda is going to stay in PA until Deb is in the hands of God. One of these days the science of the world will get a firm grip on cancer, but for now, nature rules.

Who else got a blizzard this week? We got just over 2 feet of snow in 24 hours, then 2 days later got another 4" top top things off. It took two days to clear things up. It's tough driving with big snow banks blocking vision at the corners. The snowmobiling is instantly fun! It's fun to break trails, but with this much snow it can be a challenge. John & I came across a fellow that had slipped off the trail & was buried. Come to find out he had broken his front suspension & couldn't steer. It was funny because he was alone, it has just happened, and his engine was still running so he didn't hear my quiet four stroke pull up next to him. He was bent over looking at the broken part & neither saw nor heard me. I shut off my machine & 3 seconds later he stood up & about jumped out of his skin when he saw me. LOL I'm pretty sure that was the least amount of time that a stranded sledder ever waited for help. As it was he was less than a mile from home.

OK good people, hug your loved ones. This life goes by way too fast. Onward we go!

What's for breakfast? My cook is gone! English muffin egg & cheese sandwich I guess. I can handle it.

its coming along but slowly.
They are saying 60°'s today  I can't take the wet muddy dog anymore this winter, the ground is a soggy mess but the only advantage is I can get warm fresh air into the house to combat the paint smell!
I hope everyone has a good weekend, take care and stay safe :) now back to work :(

Hi everyone,

Thanks for breakfast Freddy. Anything I don't have to cook is the bees knees!

With the temperature forecast to hit 70* today DK and I are going to take the trikes out for a couple of hours. The county has a four lane road they were kind enough to put a bike trail next to that goes cross county for about 30 or 40 miles. Being this is our first adventure out since Oct we'll stay on our end of the county; it's flatter anyway. I'm almost fully recovered from my fall of early Jan and have been using my trike's stationary setup so hopefully, I'll be good to go. If not, one of the kids can bring the truck and pick us up.

Keepaeyeonit - looking good! DK and I are about to start a major rehab of this house in line with his retirement in five or six years. We have a couple of major things on the list, bathrooms and kitchen, but mostly it's all little stuff like replacing toe board and painting. I'd like to move ahead on the kitchen in particular so I could enjoy it awhile before we move to the Williamsburg area.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care, Lisa

Morning all, pouring in Cali....lets get that dam discussion up and running again. ;)
Really got a time shortage now, sold my house in 14 days, bought a new one 3 days later, took on a door replacement and a tile shower job....then put a piece of something thru one of my new tires(looked like a rebar puncture) and I have to move all the larger items to storage as we can't close on our house till this one sells.
On a positive note, the new house has some features I wanted but not all. Full basement that is dry. That is a rare thing here. Workshop in the basement, and an unfinished room upstairs. Just going to update, finish that room and build a nice set of stairs, and put it back on the market in a couple of years. Hope to make more then I made on this one.
New one is just outside a golf course community on the water that all the Mannings have homes in.....gotta get a Patriots banner out.....

Kevin

Sure do miss a Maine breakfast....run down to the Bluebird in Machias and get me a Hamsteak with real corned beef hash and 2 eggs hard would ya Freddy?

This has got to be one of the "Better" Coffehouse visits that I've been privy to in some time !

Good Morning,Gang !! There's so much to cover,so much to be Thankful/Grateful for, that I'm getting out the broad brush and painting All of You with it !

We've got a visitor from Richmond,Virginia(Chesterfield actually) due in early this afternoon. We're looking forward to the arrival,as he's trailer tugging a new to Us Subaru Forester that's Brine/Salt free with no rust on it ! It'll be getting the Canadian Penetrating Rust Preventative first thing Monday ! I'm very appreciative for this good episode to be occurring. We came very close to losing Our Youngest in a Head-On with a tall dividing wall, coupled with the customary aerial launch, roll and complimentary roof ride. She was in a Subaru built Saab 9-2x(Impreza based) and was able to start extricating herself as help arrived. The Driver's Cockpit maintained Structural Integrity to the point of allowing the door to operate. This was money well spent. I told her that thousand's of cars are built every day around the World. She,however,is a Limited Edition of One...... She required a few stitches along the scalp line, and had plenty of Internal/External bruising from the sudden decelaration/Aerial Circus, but all in all,she came through the Ordeal Alive and Unscathed !...... 'Nuff said !!

On a lesser note, even after having the Flu Shot onboard since 1Nov2016,I was directly exposed to Influenza "A" ,and have had just a Merry Old Time of it ! The Doc told me that as hard as I was hit,if I hadn't of had the Immunization onboard,I'd of been Hospitalized ! I told him "Thanx" for that cheery bit,and informed him that most Mental Health Pro's would insist on Hospitalizing me ! He chuckled !

There's a Hope in the air of an early Spring, but those in the Snowbelt of N.E.Ohio usually hedge Our bets and just ride it all out until June arrives ! Here's to a Ginormous shoeprint in February's rear-end ! Come on March !! :dancing:

I Truly Hope that this finds All of You as Good and Well as You can stand ! Take Care,Gang !

Morning all,

We still have a ton of quality snow and the trail groomers are out in full force. Just a reminder if you come to the tug hill to ride, stay off of the lakes, they are not safe this year. Also, please stay on the trails as we are having riders not obeying trails. Land owners are on the verge of closing off more land access.

Picked up another ton of coal yesterday and had planned to unload it, however, I received a phone call from a family member asking to help her son who was broke down not far from our home. He was on his way home from college for the weekend. So I towed his truck to my house and waited for his father to arrive with a trailer to take his truck home. One blown clutch equals no forward movement of the vehicle.

So today I will be unloading the coal and then the wife and I will take in a ten mile run followed up with a forty mile bicycle ride on my indoor trainer. To close out the day we hope to take in a snowmobile ride in the early evening. We have a lot of sleds out on the trails and it is just safer to go out after everyone has called it quits for the day.

I purchased some coal from tractor supply last month only to be less than happy with the source of the coal. In NY Reading is supplying coal to tractor supply. The coal is packaged in all white plastic bags. The delivery slip listed Reading as the supplier. I forgot what crap Reading put in their bags of coal. I had to get out my antique coal sifter to screen each bag of coal. Anyone else have similar experience with coal from tractor supply. Manager at our local tractor supply store said he could not understand why his coal sales are down this year. He said customers who purchase a lot of coal, purchased one ton and have not returned. I informed him it was due to the fact that the company supplying the coal was Reading.

Anyway, I need to get going. Have a safe and productive weekend everyone.

Freddy,

That leftover muffin sandwich really hit the spot. Hope you don't mind buy I raided the fridge and cooked a little bacon to add to it.

So glad to hear you got the snow up there. I've been following the weather reports and snowfall amounts. Some areas got 40" in the first storm. It looks like we will be able to ride the sleds almost anywhere in the entire state that we want. :dancing: We are leaving next Saturday for a week up there. So now the crunch time comes as I have to finish the jobs in the shop before I leave. So looking forward to this year's trip........

HB isn't modern technology great ?? The amount of safety built into today's vehicles is incredible. Although it does create and cost a lot to repair as the crash absorbing capabilities spreads the damage over a much larger area. But to have a loved one walk away from an accident is well worth it. Good luck on the new vehicle.

Arrggghhhhh this muddy weather. Got the 580C backhoe stuck in the field. The more I try to get it out the farther it sinks into the mud. Was hoping with the recent lower temps that it would harden the ground but it did not freeze much below the surface. Looks like I have to get out the other tractor to try to help tug it out.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Rick

HB.....A big sigh of relief on the car excitement! Needing a new ride is no big deal. Been looking for a TDI replacement recently I'll give the Subee's a closer look.

Hit the mid 60's today, this is foil over the baro weather! Got the loader out for a few chores and also the 332 with the leaf vac to get a lot of the leaf collection areas cleaned up. Never did that in Feb before!

Now, now, now, you can't get a 580C stuck... but you do make a conscious decision on how big a mess you want to make getting out! I left one "stuck" for 3 months one year until mud season was over. I made a big mess, but it would have been a HUGE mess to get it out sooner.

Next time I'm there! ;) The corned beef hash is the best!
