There you go OD, your name is in red so you should know better than to throw facts at a liberal. He will blame Bush, Trump the cold weather despite the fact that the same thing is happening in NY. Five cities in upstate are a waste ground but NYC have 3/4 million people in NYC that have city IDs only. Campaigns to attract business have had ZERO effect due to high taxes. Yep, you can't fix stupid.

Hey they are call un-enrolled...
There is an Independent party which causes the confusion...
MA had net domestic out migration...
at about 16,000...
New York State and the Northeast region led the nation in domestic net “outmigration” in the period from July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014, according to newly released data from the Census Bureau.

Had a few 'nados on the cape and islands over the years...
Just f1 or waterspouts...
Shark 'nados are another story...

OD and CN, you should know better than to throw numbers around if you don't really know what the numbers say. Not sure what the agenda is of the person who wrote the article you originally cited, but its portrayal of an overall outmigration from MA is simply incorrect. MA population estimated by U.S. Census increased every year from 2010-2016:
2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016
6,565,524 6,611,923 6,658,008 6,706,786 6,749,911 6,784,240 6,811,779

The "net domestic migration" number for MA is currently a negative number, but is unremarkable in the context of the larger negative numbers for many other states, including Alaska, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming and New York. Actually, 31 of the 50 states have negative values for net domestic migration, so singling out MA seems pretty lame and pointless. It's also lame and pointless because this number omits things like military personnel and other citizens returning from overseas, lawful immigration, and growth caused by people born in the state who choose not to leave. Yes, as already agreed, some people move out of MA (and many other states) upon retirement, but to an analyst the attempt to play politics with these numbers is a joke. Oh look at the population flee those liberals in New Mexico, North Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming. Oh, MA must be terrible, because it has the highest overall population growth rate of any state in the northeast other than Delaware. :baby:  I'd suggest that you either look more closely at the numbers when they are provided, or try to be more careful who you listen to, because the stuff you are citing doesn't make your case.

The population numbers came off of Snopes and so you know they are real. One million doctors. engineers and other useful people were replaced with 1MM +1 unemployable illegal aliens with ravaging TB. Dalton is soon to declare they are a sanctuary village. hahahahahahahaa.

My state gets ranked high all the time too. A lot to do with jobs and healthcare. It sure aint the weather! I wish we were ranked low as all a good ranking does is bring in more people. Im actually surprised more don't move here as you can find a job in an hour, at least anywhere around me.

CN, dang, 1 million + 1 with TB, LOL You might be a little off but thats funny!

Pacowy, my hats off to you for sticking up for your state, right or wrong. Kind of a school pride thing.

Thanks. The funny thing is that if these guys could hit on something real I would probably be the first to agree with them. Much of my day job involves understanding what the numbers say, and I have little patience for people who start with the answer they want and then try to cherry-pick numbers to fit it. To be clear, I'm referring here to the posers who circulate the kinds of docs the forum members have cited, not the forum members themselves. And it doesn't just involve MA; not that long ago there was a lengthy discussion of a "study" of U.S. immigration issues conducted by people who should know better, that completely misstated or overlooked key findings visible to the naked eye in the underlying data. Such "studies" are no more than propaganda that deceives people into supporting positions they might otherwise question if they looked at the whole picture.

CN When are you moving to Maine?
Anytime now but the passport offices are swamped for some reason. So is it a territory like PR or classed as a foreign country like Canada. Do I need a visa? Is it full of MA ex pats and are there any Mainahs left? What month is it guaranteed to be good weather. So many questions so few answers.

My Senator Franken, (gulp) is infamous for his hatred of studies with statistics. I have laughed more than once during hearings when he got mad at people citing numbers. Kind of not his thing I guess. Stats can be good or bad. I have no idea on any of those cited on this post.

Unfortunately for Sen Franken, making sound decisions regarding public policy issues often depends on having a good understanding of current conditions, and that sometimes requires dealing with numbers.

And CN isn't fooling around here. At least since the 1960's the NYT has been recognized internationally as an unimpeachable source. Do you remember the last time the Russian ambassador was accused of being a spy, in 1964, when he was interrogated by the President himself?:

President:

But this is absolute madness, ambassador. Why should you build such a [huge doomsday nuclear weapon that cannot be disarmed]?

Ambassador:

There are those of us who fought against it, but in the end we could not keep up with the expense involved in the arms race, the space race, and the peace race. And at the same time our people grumbled for more nylons and washing machines. Our doomsday scheme cost us just a small fraction of what we'd been spending on defense in a single year. But the deciding factor was when we learned that your country was working along similar lines, and we were afraid of a doomsday gap.

President:

This is preposterous. I've never approved of anything like that.

Ambassador:

Our source was the New York Times.

[with apologies and deepest thanks to Stanley Kubrick, Terry Southern and Peter George]

So says Crankles, Soros and Biffo the Bear. This is why they would be bankrupt if not for Carlos Slim funneling money. The top eight stories of the building are going to be turned into a great skating rink. I will miss that time honored way of starting a coal fire. The forests of Canada will heave a sigh of relief.
