Yep, tonight from JFK was Radar vectors to DKK, FNT, BAE, ONL, DVV, ILC, then the Manteca arrival into Oakland Commiefornia Took 5:40 flight time, taxi time and flight added up to 6:25. 143 customers and two dogs..

Stan, your bin is really cool. Nice design. I'"ll have to build a ramp, lower door in my wall after it is empty.

This bin took about a week to build. I was just about to pour my first bag of coal into it and i thought.
Humm my coal is a little wet what will happen when it gets about 10 degrees? so i put one of those heaters that you place on your shingles to stop ice damns inside. It holds a little over 1 ton.Any thoughts?

This might not be the right question,,,, but why on earth are you pouring bags of coal into a bin??????

4x4x8 plywood and 2x4 box in side of garage.

I definitely recommend that folks cut a little chute one bucket height high into the sides of the bins. It's easy and it works. For what it is worth, 1 ton of rice sized anthracite takes up no more than 37 cubic feet with a density of 55#/cubic foot. A 128 cubic foot box easily holds 3 tons (with about 20ft3 to spare.) Or, about enough room (without heaping) for another 1/2 ton.

I've heard 40 cubic feed was a ton. Where did you get your numbers? My hopper is 3 x 4 x 3, 36 cubes I'm wondering and would like to keep track.

I believe it is 40 for nut size and 37 for rice because it packs more densely.

One ton of Anthracite coal will Take up anywhere from 40 to 43 Cubic ft. The weight of Anthracite can be 50 to 59 lbs Per cubic ft. Some say up to 69 lbs per cubic ft broken up. Solid 94 lb The anthracite coal in the Northern field & Middel field will weigh more Then the coal in the Southern field. Also it will be harder from the Middel up to the Northern field.
Then the Southern field .

I finally reclaimed my bin from storage space. This old bin will hold 5 or 6 ton of black rock....currently has 4 ton which should keep us warm all season.
