I'm not a hot weather person. I dread 90 degrees and high humidity like most people dread winter.
Well, looks like the hot weather is sneaking up on us.
Anyone else besides me and Richard still have a coal fire burning?

My AA is still burning,, I just got back from a five day trip, the ashpan is only about 1/3 full, and the boiler burnt maybe 150#,, I'll add coal and bring it up to where it was, and count buckets... but the boiler is idling along,, providing a shot of heat for the 50* nights and all the hot water..
I'm still debating on when/if I'm shutting it down..

Yes, mine's still going, but this is the end. Again. Really, this time. 55 degrees tonight, 70 tomorrow. Nights in the low/mid 40s are predicted for later this week, so we will need some heat, but it's not pleasant driving the house up to 80 degrees days. The current load of coal has been burning 24 hours now, so by noon tomorrow I expect it will be out. My wife has promised to wear sweaters if necessary rather than burn oil.

The only reason I don't burn wood in the Harman is the creosote. I finally got it all out of the chimney from the wood stove and I'd probably set it on fire (again) if I started burning wood.

I'm cheap...stopped burning a few weeks ago...cold days and nights last week, we wore sweatshirts. Funny thing about it though, last year, sweatshirts were normal all winter long inside the house. This year, we complained if we had to put a sweatshirt on

Typical for the weather forcast compared to actual... This morning was forcast to be 51*,, it's 44.5*,, and very windy.. Yesterday I had windows open to cool down the place,, and had windows open in my bedroom untill about 2 AM,,, now the place is closed up and the baseboards are making heat...
I need to cover up the vegetables in the garden I'm 90% sure we are going to get a frost tonight..

I shut down Saturday morning. I usually kill it when the lows hit 50*.

45 for the low tonight, 41 tomorrow night. I had a visit with JC today and picked up more Superior buck. The stoker is happy again.

It looks like the hot weather is really here, at least in New Jersey. The forecast says temps will hit the low 90's this weekend. 75 and a little humid here right now.
I haven't had time to build a summer coat for the stoker, the cellar is a bit warmer then I'd like. I did place a small fan in the cellar window to take some of the heat out. At least I'm saving some electricity this way, in the summer the dehumidifier runs almost non-stop to keep the dampness down, but my cool "retreat" is gone.
