We have a Keystoker K6 running old cast iron hot water radiators. The drain valve failed and a significant amount of our water drained out of the system in the cellar. We have what we need to fix it easily, but are concerned about adding fresh water to the system. Currently it's at around 155* and it will be hours before that cools down below even 100* since we can't circulate with no pressure in the system (it's at 0 psi). It's going to be 6* with high winds here tonight. On a day when the furnace is running well that's a tough temp to weather in this old place. So I need to know, can I add cold water to the system right away or will that crack my boiler or something due to thermal shock?

Just crack the valve so it adds water slowly, no reason to wait or worry.
