As long as it's just sleeping there is ways to power it on. Just like your mouse can wake it so can signal from networked device.

This is going to depend on the mobo and XP, but you can start by going into devices . Look under network adapters, there will probably be two of them if you have ethernet and wifi. Right click and select properties, look under the power management tab.

If that is not available another option here would be to schedule it to power on,of course you would only be able to login into when it was awake.

asus motherboards have log supported xp...
might want to look at building an old new one...
can look in the pile and see what asus board was running xp...

OK.... My computer buddy Paul was over tonight. He understands stuff that's over my head. Linda had the idea of "remote access". Between that and ideas gleaned from here, we networked the two machines, set up a remote desktop connection and now have remote access. With two clicks the screen on my new computer becomes the screen on the downstairs computer and I can do anything, ANYTHING, on it! Wooohooooo!

Now all I have to do is get accustomed to this new keyboard..... I keep hitting the cap locks by mistake. :) Ohhhh, life's little troubles.
