I just got off the phone with the closest Harman dealer and asked him about the VF3000. He said they only sell about 2-3 a year and currently he wouldn't be able to get one until the end of June - not a big deal.
He really didn't know much about it either. The price he gave me was $4000 for the unit. $852 for a "veri-flow coal feeder" and $148 for the hopper. Something tells me that he mispronounced Verti-Flow as Veri-Flow. Does any of this make sense? He said he would have to call to find out if the "veri-flow coal feeder" and the hopper were items that you needed or just options. --edit--> I'm under the impression that you need the hopper and it shouldn't be an option. Perhaps the guy was reading from a parts list?
I just got off the phone with another dealer and he quoted me $4500 for it. This guy talked my ear off and was a great salesman. He answered everything I tossed at him and asked me a whole bunch of questions too. He also emailed me a quote! He currently has 4 on order from Harman and said these things are starting to sell like hotcakes. --edit--> I had to leave work and get home and wasn't able to finish the post. This guy said I should use about 4 tons of coal per year based on my current set up with a boiler mate HW tank and the sqft of my house. He said this boiler is really over sized for my needs, but it will work very nice and I'll be very pleased with the operation. I'll prolly take a drive up this dealer and chat with him some more before I make any final decisions.

The boiler comes with the verti-flow stoker and the hopper. They are not options. The boiler will not work without them. $4,000.00 is about the going rate for one, maybe alittle less some places.
He was the 2nd dealer I called.syncmaster wrote:I think this post will help you:

edit--> IRT coalkirk - I guess everything costs more in Jersey. Although, if I pay in cash he offers 5% off the price.

Since your in NNJ, you might want to try Gardens to Grow in Port Jervis,http://www.gardenstogrow.com/ I bought my VF3K there and have reccomended several other people to them. Do you have a source for your coal yet?
Hope this helps

The parts thing came up before with a door that was not included, the door makes sense though because I think you had a choice of styles. I'll bet Harman offers the base units to the dealers. The dealer simply isn't being smart enough including it in the price if it's necessary item.
That is the 2nd dealer I called today and was very happy with the results. The price seems good, his knowledge of the unit and the installation was excellent, and his sense of humor kept me on the phone and not wanting to get back to work.Highlander wrote:Hollyfield

At the moment, I do not have a source for coal. Can you recommend a dealer?

That's where I bought my Harman, he's in Montague on Route 206. His prices are a little high, I suppose you can dicker with him a little on it if he knows you are serious and not just looking. At the last minute he lowered the price on my stove.Hollyfeld wrote:That is the 2nd dealer I called today and was very happy with the results.
