Hello all. New to this forum. I have just purchased an older Kodiac Wood/Coal Insert. Seems to be in great shape but the baffle
just below the top layer of the stove is really warped. Don't have a pic of that but I do of the stove. See attached. Someone at church
said it is made from Boiler Plate Steel not cast. Do I need it and if so I will need to make a new one and go a little heavier gauge I think.
Any suggestions would be nice.
Thank You.

The purpose of a baffle is to force flue gas to pass over surfaces it would otherwise miss without the baffle. Also can reflect heat back to the fire.
Some warping would not effect this. If not too severe I would use it as is.

My Waterford stove has a baffle over the fire that was warped a bit when I got it. I just flipped it over when I resealed it. Can you do the same

The baffle was hard to get out because the left side was warped pretty bad. I think I will just have a welder
I know make a new one for me. Old stoves like this are hard to find parts for. He can just go off of the dimensions
of the one I have. I don't think it can be re-used. It is warped probably 4 inches or so. Looks like a noodle. The stove is otherwise
fine. No noticeable issues anywhere. Blower works great and door seals really tight. Thanks for your advice.

Harbor Freight welder to the rescue ! (I've made some parts for my Hitzer using mine~firebrick holder comes to mind).
Zip-zap-zonk ... Got the welder just to have ... don't use it to often .. but nice to have that option ... welded a few things that saved me some cash. Amateur welder for sure.
