EFM is all fixed up and ready to go

EFM is all fixed up and ready to go

PostBy: mooseman100 On: Fri May 05, 2017 8:41 pm

Well Scottscoaled was graciois enough to stop by my place today on his way south. We replaced the old stoker. The spacer that was on it put the shaft on a bind and wore out bushings in pot and on short worm. Looks like this stoker was not really meant for this boiler. But anyway, we are up amd running. I can turn the auger with my fingers, took a rachet before. Before I would shear 4-5 pins a year, typically resulting in an out fire.
We also replaced my ancient aquastat and timer. Rewired the entire setup to be more clean. I learned so much today on operation of these units and coal in general.
We have nobody in my area that knows much about coal and zero on EFM.
So very productive day. Still not ready for winter to start though, LOL!
Thanks Scott, job well done.

I had the pleasure of seeing a few pictures of the stoker before it started the voyage south. I have seen some stokers straight from the EFM factory that were not put together with that much attention to detail.

I am glad you didn't abandon the EFM and look forward to hearing what you think in the fall.

Glad to hear Scott got that unit put back together the way it should be. Now if you clean it and lube it regularly, it will be many years before anything brakes or wares out!

You were fortunate to have one of the best EFM Techs to help you out.

I just hope this statement doesn't go to his head. :D :D

Yeah right John!!!!!

Just got back in town after 20 grueling hours of highway and see this post. Yep, stopped at Brent's place on the way to pick up the son from college. Brent is a pretty cool guy. Easy to talk to and great sense of humor. You guys should see his place! Wow! He is one of those guys that does it all pretty well. From the house to the porch to the garage,,,,,Everything is, well, really nice and put together right. And high end. His boiler room is like that too. He loads the coal with a skidsteer and uses the big bags. Nicely set up system. Cracks me up that he came up with a nice setup like that with only the help from reading the forum. Way to go   Made my trip from hell a real treat. Thank you Brent.

That has to be a record. Hahaha. 7 hours one way for a service call on a coal boiler. Thanks for the good words guys. It's good to be recognized.
