The whole region has been having civil wars for 1000 years. When 3rd parties stick their noses in (because they want oil or in the Brits case, for empire) they get bloodied. It's not personal and it's not a "winnable" situation. It may cool down and heat up, but it's not going away and it is not in the control of a 3rd party.

The CIA was arming the mujahideen 6 months BEFORE the Soviets ever went into Afganistan.

According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahadeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan, 24 Dec 1979.

Regan because I think he was the start of the downturn we have today. He brought a new low level to the office with lies & broken promises, ask any old air traffic controller or steel-worker.
