I have been told that the Stihl oil (to add to gas) has stabilizer in it, but I do not know that for a fact.

You are correct Warminmin, Stihl has put stabilizer in its synthetic oil, not sure about the orange bottle oil. Echo also has it in their oil. :D

I only use Stihl oil in my trimmer and blower. Maybe it makes no difference, maybe it does. Who knows for sure.

I agree with Stihl. I have a lower level 021. It's a great "Harry homeowner" saw. Fairly light, cuts fast, and dependable. If you're using a saw 40 hours a year, it's very good. If you're using a saw 40 hours a week you'd want to spend the higher price for a pro level Stihl.

I do run ethanol free gas in my saw & weed whacker. I only drain & run dry if I think they are going to sit for months.

The closest place to me with ethanol free gas gets $30 a gallon, that isn't happening.

I also have a stihl farmboss M270 and its worked very well for me over the years dropping trees and cutting firewood. I also have a small echo that's light and great for trimming up. I use seafoam as a fuel preservative for all my 2 & 4 stroke engines and it works fine for me after winter storage.

I have heard a few people brag on the newer Poulan Pro for light use. My son gave one to his FIL, he used it quite a bit.

I have 25-30 trees I want to off. I'm not buying a $6-700 saw that will outlast me X3.

Wise decision. Yrs back I got a Poulan 18" from Lowes--It works great around here--trees up to 16" breast height, pucker brush, firewood back when, etc. When loggin--Jonsered was the saw of choice for me--with the Poulan, I read up a lil on her--more positive reviews then negative--this is probably a no-no to the over-thinkers, but when I mix my gas--I use fresh tranny fluid just like my Grand-dad & Dad did--Might throw some Marvel in for good luck--never had a problem with reg. gas w/E she could sit for months & always start on a couple pulls--wait--when I had all my surgeries, she set for 2 yrs. -- gas smelled vinigary so I dumped it--mixed a new batch--started right up

I think I'll get one of these if Sawman can't get mine up to snuff. Last $200 saw went 20+ years with zero trouble, my bar and chains should fit too.

looks like a good saw for the price.

Wow, $30 a gallon for nonE gas, that is incredible. I get mine for about 30 cents more than regular. About 1/3 of the stations here carry it now. Do some searching online, maybe on gas buddy. You may have to spend some time on the phone but you should be able to find some cheaper. Even airplane gas should be a lot less than $30. Possibly at a marina selling boat gas may have it too.
