Based on comments in the forum I decided to look for Blaschak Rice. I called the maker in PA and got a couple local phone numbers. Gary Crosby is not doing coal anymore. Wayne Robinson is selling Blaschak coal by the bag out of Freeport. His number is 207-415-3600. He is willing to buy Blaschak rice by the pallet for me on his next order and deliver it. The price seems reasonable and I will likely order a couple pallets from him this summer after I get a stove installed.

The price Wayne quoted, subject to change, is $6.50/bag in pallet quantities of 60 bags a pallet. Deliver fee is 25.00 per pallet.

I posted the estimate of how much I think I need just to give an idea to any vendors that may want to answer. I can get pea/nut size by the bag at the local hardware store in town. From what I can see the stokers prefer rice size. If I cannot find a reliable supply of rice in southern Maine that will impact my decision on what kind of stove to purchase.

Looking at two tons for a first season, if this matters to distributors. Bagged would be preferred.

I am going to Maine this spring & plan on taking my trailer with me. I could bring you up 7 ton if I knew what you were looking for. Of course you would have to either use those bags or unload it when I got there.

I've got a need for some Rice Coal, but it seems the places around me now are out. I'm familiar with the big two in my area... anyone else I could try? In in Northwest CT, up in the corner near Mass and NY..

Would like to purchase two coal burning stoves to heat my very open 2400 sq. ft. house in Wytheville, Va. 24382. Currently, I've only been able to find one anthracite provider, Blue Ridge Heating and AC in Christiansburg (an hour away); that supplier offers only rice for approximately $270/ton. West Virginia bituminous stoker and lump are available in Galax (Hill Trucking and Coal) for $95/ton; however, after talking to Hitzer regarding the burning of this coal in its stoves, I've decided that bituminous is not a viable option.

Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find pea, nut, or stove sized anthracite for significantly less than $270/ton? Thanks in advance.

Looking for nut pea or rice coal in Wisconsin. Then I can decide if its worth the drama to bring my old Iron Fireman out of retirement! - or another applinace yet to be discovered! Bagged and skidded preferred but could take dump truck loads.
