Valier coal yard. they have a web sight with their phone number.
I purchased anthracite rice from them this past October and at that time it was $175 a ton. They only sell in bulk (no bags).

MAILING ADDRESS:. Valier Coal Yard PO BOX 343 Punxsutawney, PA 15767. PHYSICAL ADDRESS:. Valier Coal Yard 87 Coolspring Rd Valier, PA 15780

Or depending on what size coal you are looking for, Parker metal products in Tarentum sells bagged nut or stove coal, I don't remember which size.

Anybody know of an anthracite supplier in or near the Danbury, CT area? Danbury is located very close to the NY border and slightly north of NYC.

Hi ! Live in New Jersey, Morristown area, 07981 zip need coal nut size, currently buying for 260 per ton, bulk delivered in bin ,Any cheaper deal?
Another toughts-- I think it's WRONG to remove coal supplier info. We all need coal to heat our homes and we just share info , not commercially advertize dealers. We help each other to get NESSESARY thing . Advise where to get coal it's the same as where to put damper or how to make coal bin, ets, ets.Think about.Serge.

??? There's been no information removed for more than year now. You may have come across other posts in the archived thread but that rule has been changed.

EDIT: I removed those two posts from the archive thread so as there is no confusion.

Valier is now offering bagged coal. They've been running an ad in the Indiana Gazette stating bagged or bulk. They are also selling stoves now.

Check your PM's. I think I know who you are buying from. That's expensive.

I am thinking of buying a new stoker coal stove. I live in Westbrook in southern Maine. Is there a reliable supplier of rice coal in this area.

Looking at two tons for a first season, if this matters to distributors. Bagged would be preferred.

We have a fairly tight modern home built in 1982. We estimate, based on oil and wood used in the past nine years, that we may need about one ton. We would likely buy two tons for our first season next fall just to be careful.
Are you replacing the wood stove? IF so your estimate may be WAY lower than your actual need.

Or are you planning on burning coal and wood?

When getting load of coal last week I was talking to my supplier about coal usage & he said the average use for a home is 3 tons a season. That's about what I will use.

Need Coal? Post it here, This thread is not for discussion purposes,............
Keep the discussion out of this thread, if the OP wants to discuss his choices he can start a new thread for that. This thread is to be used for getting contacts for suplliers only, that's it. The last one went on for almost 4 pages of discussion that had nothing to do with suppliers.

So are there any reliable coal suppliers in Southern Maine?

I posted the estimate of how much I think I need just to give an idea to any vendors that may want to answer. I can get pea/nut size by the bag at the local hardware store in town. From what I can see the stokers prefer rice size. If I cannot find a reliable supply of rice in southern Maine that will impact my decision on what kind of stove to purchase.
