I am in Hollis. Ordered a Axeman-Anderson last week, scheduled to be here Sep/Oct. I am looking for 5 tons of rice (I am told rice is what works best in the anthratube???). Local dealer in Nashua is quoting $310 per ton for 40 lb bags of Blaschak; of course wont have final price until truck arrives. I am brand new to heating with coal; two weeks ago I thought coal was coal ... obviously not! I would like to lock in as soon as possible. Please let me know. Any other advice here is certainly welcome.

Kevin, you cannot use rice coal in your axeman anderson boiler. Pea coal is the recommended size, buckwheat size can also be used with some adjustments.

Kevin, read the Bureau of Mines testing of the A-A 130 for some operational information. It's pea or buckwheat only boiler.

Here it is, 55 years after that report was written. They still make the Axeman Anderson, but when I ordered mine the factory said "only pea". Buckwheat can be used, but is not reccomended. It's like.... if all you have is buckwheat, OK, live through it, but you really want to be burning pea size.

I am in Holis NH, new to coal just ordered a keystoker kb8 hope to have it in December. I would like to buy Coal now and would split a load if you have not gotten yours yet. Let me know I would need rice or buckwheat and not sure if we wil save any money if we buy bagged?

Located in Colebrook, New Hampshire. Ordered a Keystroker K6 for Dec/Jan delivery. Looking to split order of bagged or loose buckwheat. Need 7-12 tons. Problem is finding a trucker that will deliver this kind of quantity in bagged form. Can get loose coal delivered in a full semi but dividing one's share is difficult. Buying local is around $350.00 per ton while buying loose in quantity on a semi will bring it down to $230.00 - $240.00. If anyone has suggestons it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Fitz ..its a small world....i used bagged last season and i like it for ease of use...but i will consider bulk as well. I have had thoughts about waiting as we see oil going down and i think coal could ease up a bit, but like everything that is not set in stone.

My needs will be between 7 and 9 ton in all.
